Hi just bought my first 08 Apex and wanna do a oil change the sled has 5××× miles on it I checked the oil and there is nothing in the stick I read in the owners manual that I have to warm the sled up for 10-15 min then check it and I did not do that but the manual says oil change every 2,500 miles or every start of the season and the oil filter/ cartridge is to be changed every 12,000 miles sound like thats way to many miles to wait for a oil filter change to me do I do a oil change but no filter I always do a oil change in my bikes at 3,500 miles with a filter any help I would appreciate it thanks

Use the search option in the upper right corner and you will find lots of varying info, type in Oil Change, and read what pertains most to Apex. You will get many varying opinions on what the manual says and what everybody individually does. I would say use common sense and Manual is usually a good guide. Warm up or not, you should have something showing on your stick. Remember to check oil WITHOUT screwing dipstick in. The oil filter is deep down in front under the battery tray, so once you go through the process of changing it(which isn't too bad) you decide if you want to change the filter every year or not. I would say it depends on the mileage you put on, your riding conditions, and how you drive your sled.

For me, oil change after each season, filter every second oil change.
Log about 2,000+ miles per season where I ride.
