Use the search option in the upper right corner and you will find lots of varying info, type in Oil Change, and read what pertains most to Apex. You will get many varying opinions on what the manual says and what everybody individually does. I would say use common sense and Manual is usually a good guide. Warm up or not, you should have something showing on your stick. Remember to check oil WITHOUT screwing dipstick in. The oil filter is deep down in front under the battery tray, so once you go through the process of changing it(which isn't too bad) you decide if you want to change the filter every year or not. I would say it depends on the mileage you put on, your riding conditions, and how you drive your sled.
