I read many posts about overheating issues. I have a temp gauge on my Apex, it runs at 160 to 162 while running at trail speeds, on seasonals with higher speeds it runs 4 to 5 degrees cooler. When at idle for a few minutes it gets up around 170 and the highest i have seen is 175.
What should the temp be and what temp gives the overheat warning light?
P.S. The first sled I have owned where you return from a 200 mile day and I am not sore and tired!

The temp light should be on from 194 - 230 F according to the service manual.

nice that you have the guage...I would let it idle awhile...it will eventually start to heatup and throw the light on....make note of what your guage reads....that should help you out.
did you change anything in your cooling system?..IE: coolant mixture, rear heat exchanger ect?
BTW,can you post a pic of your guage?..id like to see it...
thanks
dan
Here some numbers from my GT. But remember not all engines are the same.

- None, looking now!
With my rear exchanger. I run at 150 all the time. Heavy snow or marginal. If I let it sit and idle, then it will rise. I have the bigger Attack style cooler in the rear.

I have a digital guage that mighty instlled before I boutght it from him, will try to post some pics.
Sled is all stock, no rear heat exchanger, no coolant change that I know of and it had 0 miles on it when I bought it.
I am now at 700 plus miles, rode last weekend in the low 20's and the temp still ran the same. The faster seasonal road speed 70 plus MPH it runs around 155.
108 on the dreamer and 157 on the temp guage.
