i have done a ton of searching but still have this stutter when i pan it. if i feed it to wot its ok for a second then will drop rpm and sounds like a rev limiter. its been deep snow so im only hitting 10,000 rpm. if i go from 1/8 throttle to wot its just stutters and hits 9000. like its dropping a cylinder. i changed my cr10ek plugs. it got better but is still there. i read about tors issues but it sounds like they have different symptoms. i tested my tps and i think the spec was 3.5-4.0 volts at wot and im like 3.4. the idle volts were in spec. thoughts? 2006 apex with 15000k

stator on its way out?check with a meter just to eliminate, the sled is at its miles for a new 1!

its been doing this for the last 4000k. i hardly pan it wot but its annoying me now lol. i know the sensor on stator goes or u mean something different? what test do u mean? ohm reading on coils? not sure y the stator would make it "miss" at wot. it really feels like bad plug or injector or coil. i unplugged coils one by one at idle and it definitely changed the idle. not sure how else to test for injectors or coils

Change your belt.

ya ohm reading at plug to check, but i understand what u mesn it could test good but be cutting out at higher rpm, my 06 has bout same miles and stator went out when i went to get it out of storage, its almost like clockwork when they reach that milage, was just a thought to check! good luck

I thought when they quit they were dead dead? do they give the symptoms i describe when they start to go? thanks

i personally have had 2 stator issues with yamaha sleds 1 on my apex and years ago on my 700 triple and ya both times they were " dead dead" but have also herd of gyes experienceing cut out symtoms at high rpm or ilde fine but not getting rpm over 4000 etc with a bad or weak stator but again just throwin it out there , it lots of money to spend not to cure problem iknow!!

i forgot to mention i can hear it cut out on idle sometimes. could be unrelated. i was reading today on how to test the ignition coils via resistance. i will test them see where we are at. also that injector 4 is a common failure. not sure how to test that.

My Attak developed a stutter or stumble a couple years ago when you wacked the throttle open and performed poorly at full throttle. I had changed the exhaust donuts to copper the year before and they were all leaking. Once I fixed the exhaust issue the stumble was gone and it has performed flawlessly ever since.
It would be worth checking your headers and donuts for leaks.

wait... u said your copper donuts were leaking. hmmm. i have copper but if i plug exhaust it does stall. i have had blown donuts before and never experienced this. its just like it drops a cylinder. its something for me to think about anyway... wonder if a little exhaust leak combined with my tps running a hair outta spec is making it do this. i dunno tho. its brutal when u do it. sounds bad.

checked the tps by holding reset and select then turning the key on and hold for 8 seconds. d1 comes up. then press reset n select for 3 seconds do1 comes up. the number at the bottom of the screen was 16 closed and 95 wot.

i changed my plugs. bypassed tors. added fuel via c0. plug were lean. headers and air box. mashed the throttle a dozen times in the field. wham. 10,800. sweet. see how it holds up on the trails. i think it was tors. the plugs were new this season. and i only changed one that looked a little shinney. it felt really bad before. like it was dropping two cylinders. im thinking tors was retarding the timing. i have been fighting this for two years. i dont mash it much. no need on apex on the trail so i didn't bother with it alot.
