Hey all, I'm considering getting a wide front end kit from either Pioneer or Mountain performance for my '09 apex. I'm not having luck though with getting any reviews on how much it improves cornering ability or softens up the front end suspension if at all. Anyone install the kit and have any input on the kits available? Thanks!

I yet to hear of these, but if I think about a wider front I think about how much more the outside ski will have to travel. Though that may be, it should give more surface area for the bumps to get absorbed, in theory. On the other hand, the shocks might just act the same and now you have a fat pig of a sled. Could you perhaps include a link to one of these kits?

Pioneer and Mountain Performance both have these on their websites. It widens out the front end from 42" to 45". I'm most interested in the cornering stability that this would provide. They are relatively expensive ($600) and I'm wondering if the performance advantage would be worth it. If it only makes a barely noticeable improvement I'm not interested but I've heard/read some good things and was looking for some first hand experience.
Im thinking of how the skies will be in a 2 place trailer.? the other sled may just run over 1 ski ? i would also be intrested in any feed back on performance..do they come with there own tie rods and ends,? when i did the banshee it came with everything.

You might want to give both of those manufacturers a call. I looked into this when a tree got in my way last year.
Both had them on their website and neither of them were making them at all anymore. Most of the people here are trail riders. This was an upgrade done mostly to mountain sleds. The wider stance in the deep powder makes the sled more stable side to side. There is theory that it will make the sled sit more in corners, but its a huge upgrade price to guess on a theory. If you are trying to get a flatter ride in the corners, money would be better spent on a 13mm sway bar and just getting the suspension set right.
If you are like me (Tree Magnet), and you have to replace them anyways, I did find a guy that made aftermarket arms. His name was Dan, and his website is http://www.alternativeimpact.com
His pricing was not bad, and he would custom powder coat the arms to whatever color you wanted. I ended up with a new sled and did not end up going this direction, but he might be your only option.

I have these on 2 RX1's. On those sleds, along with the 13mm bar, they were a big improvement. I also have an 07 Apex GT and I have to wonder why you would want them on the Apex. Set up properly, they rail as is. I may have put a stiffer torsion bar on, I can't remember for sure.
Anyway, the downside of the MP wide a-arms on the RX1's (in addition to loading sleds side beside on a trailer)is that constantly bend the lower control arm bolts out at the ski leg. If you don't catch it soon enough, the steel spindle bushing gets trashed as well as the plastic bushings. I have replaced many bolts. This year, I ordered grade 8 from McMaster Carr instead of going back to Pioneer.
