Asphalt Results "2007"

Well I finally made it out on the maiden voyage with the apex and all I can say is WOW. I wasn't able to pick up my powercommander yet so I figured we will just go out and try some different clutch set-ups and play with the suspension to try and get it dialed in.
To my surprise I ran 11.20 at 115 right out of the gate with stock clutching and the hauck exhaust. Then we added the air box mod and then some clutching and some fine tuninig on the suspension got a 1.39 60'and ran 10.18 at 124.7 mph best run motor only.
I can't wait to get the NOS and powercommander hooked up and give it a try. I am now a believer in 4 stroke power!!! Special thanks to Chris (legend) and Stevie ( chimp) for all there help today and a special thanks to Jonathon (87gtnos) for letting me know about the fuel enrichment load at low speed and for installing my NOS next week. :-o

Those times are realllly great! That is much faster than most of us are running on an Apex normally aspirated. Where did you run it? Does the driver weigh about 40 lbs :) What are you talking about in regards to fuel?

I was really happy with my progress on Saturday. I made four time trial runs but didn't race.

After letting Monker ride my sled last week, he said it felt like it was running really rich. So, this time I leaned out my fuel on my Boondocker fuel controller one unit each race throughout the rpm spectrum. As you can see, each run was better than the last. The sled feels much crisper on the low end now. I still think I need to reduce a little fuel around the 8500 rpm range. I think it is still sluggish up there.

Best part of the day was that my first run out was my personal best and each run therafter was my personal best. Unfortunately, I need another 15/1000's to get into the 9's :-o

You arn't the only one who is in disbelief but it is what it is and most of the run's were made with me on it (225 #'s suited) except for the last 3 which were made by my buddy who weigh's 180 #'s suited. We did have a good tailwind but the ET came from the great 60's . Started out at 1.7's down to a couple of 1.41 with a best of 1.39. Who would have thought that such a heavy sled could 60' so well.
As far as the fuel enrichment it is built in to the system and is controled by the gauge pod it enrichens the fuel mixture at low speed only and helps to get rid of the bog out of the hole. :4STroke:
These runs were made at Toronto motorsports park in cayuga.
Stoutner all you need to do is get your 60's down and you will be in the 9's all day. One tenth in your 60' will give you 2 tenths on the top, so even if you get your 60' in the 1.48 range you will be 9.80's easy. Work on your suspension thats where your 60's are.

Hey Wayne, I barely had enough time to take a pee when I hurt the SRX. I had to get the other sled up to the line to run a time run, so I kind of knew what it would run.

From watching the cars, I knew I would run slower, but the -.003 redlight ended the day early, and after feeling queezy from the hot weather and sun, I went home after 1st round.

This weekend really shows how the wind and temp plays a huge factor in the times, as all the vehicles that usually run 9.40's were running 9.80's.

Wow that is impressive almost unbelievable, you must have had a good tail wind as my turbo'd sled isn't that much faster, and we have some 1050cc predator motored cats that run around that number!!!!!!!!! That's with stock suspension and motor, just exhaust clutching and air box mods?????

These runs were made at Toronto motorsports park in cayuga.
Stoutner all you need to do is get your 60's down and you will be in the 9's all day. One tenth in your 60' will give you 2 tenths on the top, so even if you get your 60' in the 1.48 range you will be 9.80's easy. Work on your suspension thats where your 60's are.

Stone, Are you sure you aren't running a 1/4 Kilometer instead of a 1/4 mile? :drink:

Congratulations Stone and Legend on the runs I was there and saw them he is not lieing. Sure a good tail wind and weight is and will always be huge factor too but I never would have believed it but I saw it. All that with just an Ficht air box, pipes, ulmers clutch kit, the firecat suspension and narrow track and a 150 lbs driver worked unreal. Congrats.

Well there definatly was a good tailwind but the driver weighs more than 150#'s we weighed him after we got back from the track he was 165 and I was 210 so suited you can add 15 #'s to those weight's. All in all I myself am still in disbelief as we would have been happy to be in the low 11's on the first outing. There is a 2 tenths differance and about 2 mph differance from me to Stevie and I'm sure that on a differant track on a differant day the results will change but it changes from day to day even on the same track.
All in all yamaha has built one hell of a motor to run like that with all the weight it has to pull, and even still has reverse! Right now it weighs 581#'s with 2 gallons of gas plus driver.

OMG you never cease to amaze me but so you feel better I stand corrected about the weight of your driver even though that is what I was told at the track by Legend.

Great runs Stone. I said 2 years ago I thought the Apex should be able to go 10.2 with a good 60' time and it's finally been proven!

Good luck to everyone at the ESTA race. I'll be out playin in the dirt getting ready for our first grass drag! Anyone want to take a Apex turbo sled out? All setup for the tar, but doesn't look like it'll make any passes this summer.

Hey Allen, I'll take you up on your offer :Rockon: I'm planning on being down there on the 21st or the 22nd, and I was going to bring down my turbo or srx, haven't decided yet, maybe I'll just tow the car, forget about my sled and take you up on your offer, split the winnings if there are any!!!!!
