Thought I'd update you guys on what happened late Sunday @ ESTA.
From our Canadian contingent, we had 4 guys in the top 10 (2 on each side of the ladder). Scott & I and raced off, and John drew Richard.
My sled had been running very consistant and with no cars now on the track, I knew the 60fts 'should' fall off. They had been spectacular all day... running either 1.33 or 1.34's. Times in the 1/8th were 6.51 or 6.52, and the quarter had come in around 10.64 to 10.67 @ 115.
With the humidity up 20%, and temp down just a few degrees, I decided to dial a 10.66... being preparded to brake at the end. Scott has sand bagged before or run NOS to fender me, so I figured I'd dial what could be a breakout time. The 60ft was a 1.35, and the 1/8 mile time was a 6.48 @ 99. (Note: This sled had never run a sub 6.50 run... even with my 1/8th mile gearing at home). I was hard on the brakes through the 1/4... but I left my breaking too late. Sled still ran a 10.64 at 111. More than a little pissed. Nice thing was both of us cut great lights... mine a .52 and Scott's a .53. Scott ran a 9.93 on a 9.90 dial.
Scott had a bye into the semi final, then lost... otherwise he would have met John Chatwood in the final... as John had progressed up through the other side of the ladder. John won the whole thing on a red light. For those of you who were attending 2 years ago... he was the one with the Polaris wheel sled that ran a exhibition pass. Great guy... been racing forever.
Wayne... drop me an update when you have time. I have been thinking about you. With my sled working so well... was contemplating NOS. I may just keep on thinking....
