Attak and deep snow

I'm going to add Woody Doolies and shorten the limiter strap one notch too. I'm 50-75% off trail rider. The darting on the stock Apex Mtn skis I added to my Attak is outrageous - almost un-rideable on the trail.

I wouldn't even bother buying the Woody's Doolies. I used them last year on my stock skis on my Attak. They will definitely take out all the darting (I had absolutely none) but you sacrifice cornering. They PUSH REAL BAD in the corners. I would save the $100 you would spend on the doolies and use it to buy slydog powder hounds, SLP's or Simmons skis. I bought Slydog Powder Hounds for this year...I've read good things about them on this site.

Hey thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I'm not sure I know what the push in corners means - sounds like a racing thing? There are no groomed trails in Alaska, no race tracks, hardly any hard surfaces to ride on. I just want the darting to stop and to be able to get some powder performance> As it is now, it's unrideable. I am considering powderhounds, but they are just as wide as the stock Apex Mtn skis I have now, however the keel might accomplish both darting elimination and powder performance? That sounds like it might be money better spent?

TAl. have you tied shimming your Ski's? This and adding Begstrom Triplepoints cured my darting with the stock ski's. I have since changed to Slydog Powderhounds on my Attak. Very predictable handling with excellent flotation and no darting. Just a suggestion. I really believe that shimming and checking your ski alignment will help if you don't want to spend the extra cash.

The only thing I've tried various settings of front spring pre-load until it was almost loose, and all points in between and playing with the transfer setting. Nothing has seemed to work, but I only got 300 miles on it before end of season.

I've been reading everything on here, and the tech section, the FAQ. I thought about getting the powderhounds actually for a long time, but couldn't make up my mind. Almost pulled the trigger already. I've got A-arm protectors this year to try to get even more float this season. We get tons of powder around here.

But that's it - I'm going for the powderhounds!
