When I first got Mighty's sled with 200 miles it would get the same mpg as my two riding buddies XC 600s, about 14 mpg and far less mpg than a friends 05 600 sdi. Now have 1000 miles on sled and getting 18 mpg and riding at much faster average speeds, 70mph, most rides are 200 miles +, in fact today the 600 sdi used slightly more gas than I did. Not complaining just wondering what would cause the dramatic reduction in gas usage.

can someone tell me why my attak got 12 mpg with 0 miles on it, 12mpg with 500 miles on it and now 12 mpg with 1500 miles on it.. you would think these machines would be making close to the same gas mileage as each other, but it seems like mine is way low..

actually you could have your dealer change the amount of fuel coming out of the pump. the mechanic said that mine was burnin to rich and adjusted the fuel pump on the computer (cdi on the dash gauge). he said that there was too much black on the insides of the exhaust pipes( also told him i was running the same mpg as 2 rev 600 sdi renegades. this could also improve you mpg, and if you ride long hauls then this would help. i think the rings are just seatin in the proper place and the engine is loosening up,

The first ride I thought it was a fluke but after another 200 miles today the same results came at the gas pumps and really beat the hell out of her today with many long runs at 100+. Maybe milder weather? The DOO guy was shocked. Scary with the way my Slydogs were darting.

Jim, that is about the same mpg as I am getting. When riding with a bunch of Apex's, I used about 1-2 liters less at each pit stop. One poor guy on a 97 Poo took 13 more liters than me.

Gas mileage
i think gas mileage is dependent on the time of year. Spring of the year always brings better numbers. Sun beats down on trails during the day, at night it freezes making for a very hard base. The skis don't sink too much and sled is very easy to push making gas mileage go up. Went cross country a couple of weeks ago from Allagash to Chesuncook lake. Conditions were ideal and I did 179.5 miles before I gassed up. Put 9.5 gallons netting me 18.89 mpg on my 05 RX-1. Have over 7k miles and this is the best i've ever seen.

That is exactly the way my Apex Gt was. When it had uder 1,000 miles on it was getting 13-15 mpg and know gets around 18 mpg. Like a fine wine better with age!!jimmie d said:When I first got Mighty's sled with 200 miles it would get the same mpg as my two riding buddies XC 600s, about 14 mpg and far less mpg than a friends 05 600 sdi.
