What are all the differences in the Attak and Apex gearing?

The gears, chain, and cover on my '06 Attak are shot and I have to replace. I'm looking on here to find more parts and just want to be sure of what I need to get. Thanks.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Attak has 23/38 gearing and the Apex (ER and GT) have 24/38. The Apex RTX is 22/38 but I think that started on the 2007 model year. Should be the same chain for 23,24/38.

Yep you are correct....

attack(LTX).... 24/38 with a 70T chain...
RTX....22/38 with a 68T chain....

well this is what is in my two sleds... and they are factory gearing.... somebody speek up if i'm off on this one.... the 23/24 top gear will need the 70T chain.. 22 top the 70T chain does not have enough adjustment on the tentioner... need the 68T.

I believe Rockerdan is correct, I had an 06 attak (23 top), 06 Gt and Er (24 top), and now have an 07 RTX (22 top). I have read that the attak is clutched a little different than shorties to match gearing and track so I would check into it if your thinking of changing from stock gears. My stock attak screamed and I wish I still had it sometimes.

Good Luck. ;)!

The Attak/LTX 136" have a WHITE secondary spring wound 3-3 and APEX 121" have a PINK wound 6-1

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to stay stock so I guess I'm looking for 23/38 and 70 tooth chain. With any luck my Y.E.S. warranty will cover it and I won't be looking for anything, just trying to get a head start if they don't.

I liked 23/38 combo in my Apex, except the chain really had to loop around because of the extra slack created by the smaller top gear. I went 40 on the bottom, and put the 24 back on top to correct this. Only thing is, the lower gear for Reverse is around $80 compared to $25 for the top.

btw, good one Kinger!
