Looking at putting a 1 3/4 Backcountry on my xtx. I have a few questions whats the difference between the race version and trail version? Also is there any other upgrades i should do to my sled when I put this track on?

You should get some extroverts. If you plan to turbo it, get avids. If you dont, get wahls, doo extros or whatever the cheapest solution is.

You will also need to remove the tunnel/ heat exchanger protectors in order to install the new track.

no need to run extroverts on the XTX, like Dimebag said, tunnel protectors and heat exchanger protector needs to come out. I geared my sled down 1 tooth on top, not really needed, but makes a difference. you will love this track! oh and add some ice scratchers if you don't have them. I also added the X wheels while I was at it, figured every little bit helps.

The race version of the backcountry has a much harder rubber compound. The lugs rip off easier and the track will eventually de-laminate.

The Trail version will be a little softer, and last longer for trail use. Instead of ripping lugs completely off and taking the belting with, you may actually only rip and tear lugs.

You want the trail version

Most people would disagree on that. But I agree 100%.
I ran mine 3000 KMs with a backcountry track and original drivers.
No ratcheting, nothing.

The only reason i installed extros is because of the turbo..

I should have said on a stock set up, for a turbo I would definitely run extroverts!
