Be Careful out there guys!

I just wanted to convey the message of safety on the trails. Don't drink and drive and don't drive over your capabilities or your sleds. https://www.syracuse.com/crime/2019...illed-in-snowmobile-crash-near-old-forge.htmlIf you want to go fast do it on a nice smooth lake in the daylight. Unfortunately 1 of the 2 deaths up in Old Forge was on a Sidewinder.
I just read that. So sad....we are going there wednesday...2 sidewinders and an apex. Decided not to do battle with the mobs on the hill, or Old Forge on the weekend. Only decent snow so this stuff always happens, sad to say.

And I kinda raised an eyebrow as they normally don't mention the sled...the reality is, 'deadbeat reporters', that a 500 can get you killed just as fast as 'turbo yamaha'. Next thing you know, the socialist Andy Cuomo will ban 'turbo' sleds. Just an opinion....these people generally do not ride and distort facts.

There are a lot of inexperienced riders out there, I was at a dealer and listened to a guy buy two high powered sleds with a credit card and asked the salesman if he could show him and his girlfriend how to operate sleds after purchase, This was a year ago, Was a typical city person with lots of money and no brains. When you get a lot of people together, watch out. Be Safe

That's the truth...it's like driver ed when I was a kid...'watch out for the other guy'.
Especially true with sleds. A guy I know from the 'city' wanted a sled recommendatuon, as he wanted a 150+ paddle track sled for up here, because we got one big snowfall last year. Really? A mountain sled for NY trails?? Crazy...this isnt the Rockys...

There should be a road test! And have the state give out common sense! And teach stay to right and don’t stop in middle of trail. Slow down speed kills!!

I know a guy who is trying to sue a snowmobile club for not putting a curve sign on the trail we’re he was going fast around curve and hit some trees. Unbelievable/common sense

Same happens with sport bikes. Should be a cc limit for kids! Under 21? No experience and can buy biggest baddest bike or sled off showroom floor. Or probably a better idea, insurance companies charge so much for insurance under 21 they can't afford payments! My 2 cents(sense?)

Like any motorized vehicle, it is totally up to the operator on how safe or dangerous that vehicle is. IF you don,t have the smarts or disciple to understand the power of what you are in control of, then that is a huge problem for the operator. Age has got zero to do with common sense. Some people have it, some eventually get it, and some never will.
There is a time and place to do, what you want to do, safetly. You have to be smart enough to figure that out.
Darwin seems to take care of those, that aren,t smart enough to take care of themselves. Unfortunately, sometimes, innocent people who are doing nothing wrong, just happen to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Do we really need more laws to protect stupid people from themselves, which affects those of us that have common sense ? Personally, I don,t think so.

We have a lot of single lane trails we’re you can only see 20 ft ahead. I always almost get hit by the standup riders with back packs going as fast as they can through these trails ,I have straight armed a few that came right at me, and they went off the trail, and they say Why did you do that! I tell them go faster,

Yes. I feel the same way about weekend traffic up there. Last year we only rode in the day on weekends. Trail 5 is full of drunks after 5 on the weekends.

Yes the backpack boys on mostly Doos and Poos are a real danger.

Totally agree. These sleds are plain dangerous to beginners. I learned my lesson years ago when I let my wife's young inexperienced cousin take my vmax 4 down an airport. He couldn't stop fast enough and barrel rolled it in the process. Only a few bruises for him and a broken windshield.
