Nytro MTX
Hello TY, new here and to Yamaha. Beginning of this season I pick up an '08 MTX 153. I have ridden it on a couple short loops with no problems, but today I went on a bit longer one. It was snowing and had a lot of loose snow. Rode both on trail and off trail all day, with no problems again. As I got close to home, it began "slipping out of gear" if I may and hitting rev limiter at random times. My initial thought was belt slippage, but then I figured it would have done it earlier off trail when it was jam packed with snow? I have searched and read about the sea level kit and different weights and helix(s) etc etc. But all day it pulled hard and shifted fine, then bam, rev limiter randomly (not even full throttle) Then it would pull normal on acceleration. I am around sea level to 3000ish and sled is stock. Sorry for rambling, and my ignorance. Thoughts ? Ideas?
Thanks in advance
Nic

Check to see if your stock belly pan is still there.

After checking my clutches, I did find that the OEM plate was gone. Just ordered a shorty mountain tech plate, looks like a great upgrade. Made a "custom" one just for a ride today. Ply wood and a mud flap. Seems to do the trick so far.

Very haha, slowly figuring out all the little quirks! Mountain tech plate came in ! Looks a little better than ply wood and a mud flap!
