Help!!! I installed the Heavy Hitters (Speed Shop furnished) with the K & N Filters last season. Man; what a difference! No problems until I smoked a belt 2 wks ago. Spare I had was incorrect (way too big) but it was way too cold and far too walk back so I used it. Bad choice. Belt wore grooves in both clutch sheaves. Ok. Got new sheaves installed but mechanic can't get stock belt to set properly on secondary clutch with out squealing. Question: On the 04 Warrior, is a belt size other than stock recommended when using the HH set up? If not; has anybody had a problem with the engine moving??

You have a wide belt. Some belts are wider or narrower then others. Just drive it & squeel will go away as belt wears down.

Was that your sled at the Arctic Cat dealer in Gaylord? Does your secondary have washers installed on the back of the secondary for a wore out belt?

That was me. Yes - washers are installed on backside of secondary. However; not to compensate for wear on a used belt. Belt is brand new. (tried 2). Washers are installed to close secondary sheaves - only way we can get the 1 to 1.55 mm suggested belt position. I'm at the 1 mm mark but still squealing. Took Turks advice and pulled out of dealer and rode. SHouldn't have to 'wear it in' with the Japenese fit and finish! Oh well, love the sled . (Bought the Nitro the Cat dealer had on the floor. Had to ride this week end!!!) Thanks for the feed back!

Adding washers moves the shives closer together & will make the squeel louder.

If it's squealing then it's too tight. Remove a washer from each of the three screws on the back of the secondary.
I believe the stock Yamaha wahsers are 1 MM thick. I got an asortment of thinner ones from the hardware store that I use to get the belt to sit as high as possible without squealing.

I know the kid that traded in that Nytro. It was like new good buy also.If the belt continues to squeal take out the washers.

Anybody know how much 'getty up' I'm trading when I lower belt in secondary to get rid of squeal??? When the clutching was set up originally the belt was riding in spec.. Ya, I remember- a difference isn't a difference unless it makes a difference! If this were true I'd throw a belt on it and not spend so much time and $$ on tweaking for performance!

As long as it is flush at the top of the secondary you are fine.Only need washers when it is below. Also your center to center could be long causing your belt to set down a litle.
