Hi guys,
I have a good buddy who is running a Bender Stage II rear mount turbo on his 03 RX-1 shorty and his boost switch appears to have crapped out over the weekend.
It's basically just an electrical toggle switch (like you would use for handwarmers on an old sled) on his dash which changes the boost from 8psi to 16psi. Right now, both toggle switch positions yield only 8psi of boost. It looks like the wiring for this switch runs to the rear of the sled (i.e. to the turbo unit) where some sort of mechanism varies the wastegate/control rod position and boost pressure. Has anybody else here had this problem?
Since we are really far North and we only really run high boost anyway, what could we do to set the turbo up on high boost all the time? Could I just put a shut-off valve in the line between the turbo and the blower and cut the pressure completely off? Or should I let all of the pressure go through? I don't have the unit directly in front of me right now, so it's hard to visualize.
Any help is appreciated as always.

Yes this is the only thing i fought on my Bender turbo! They are not electrical they are air bleed switches. They are getting wet from snow dust getting in the fiiter on the turbo. I had to mount both my switches back on the rear exhaust cover.
The left side when sitting on the sled, so the heat from the turbo-tail pipes would keep the switches from freezing. I mounted the switches so high boost is down, so the little air hole is down to let the water drip out! I fought this for a few days!! The only way it worked was to mount by the HEAT!

As Skydog said it is not electrical it is pneumatic.
I am willing to bet that you used the rubber hose that Bender supplied with the kit to go from the turbo to the switch. If you did it is being pinched closed by your seat. I have seen this several times. I have never seen one that has actually frosen.
Take the hose off and replace it with 1/4 inch air brake line. The line can be purchased at NAPA auto. It is fairly cheap and is made of hard plastic that will not pinch closed if caught under the seat. Easy $6 fix.

Mine would freeze up every time. I mounted them up front with hard line after about 10 min of riding it froze shut.
Not sure why my sled did this but it did time and time again. The switches would not even work on the back right side. Still would freeze shut, moved over by the heat been great for 1,200 miles.

FYI I removed the line altogether and disconnected the switch. Now the thing pulls like a mofo on max boost!
I run in temps hovering around -30C with windchills of -45C or so... the line was frozen solid.
Thanks for the help guys!

CAREFULL!!!! How much boost you running?? When you take the switch off all the way you have a big time boost leak too! Adding some boost lag! Get this!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm... the boys at Bender told us to go ahead and yank the two-stage boost controller altogether. I run a manual boost controller on the air line on my MCX front mount... my friend has the Bender rear mount and since it's not accessible, he didn't want to bother putting one on his.

removing the high/low switch altogether would make your boost mechanically adjusted by the waste gate linkage. Therefore your max boost would now be your low boost setting that you had with the high/low switch.
