Bent rails

Welding those two plates together would make it alot stronger also.
I was thinking along the same line. Maybe fill the void between the two plates and bolt/weld them together.
Also noticed that the Transfer Rod's lower mount(crosshaft) is bent. Mine is also, but I wouldnt think of making a warrenty claim. I know what I have put my sled through!
But I would say it might be a good idea to have it atleast noted by the dealer so that if it is a common problem, Yamaha may address it at some point :dunno:

Those can be straightened out. The design of the rail depends too much on those cheap steel brackets. With a LITTLE heat and a press those will go back nicely. I would make a bolt in flat aluminum bracket 6" for and aft from center of bend, that fits into the middle of the I on the rail to reinforce it. Also have someone tig weld the new steel mount plates across the top so they don't bend apart like those did. I would repair those for you ,but your so far away.

This is exactly the reason why I went for the SE instead of the XTX. I would have loved the bump bridging capability and also the floatation of the XTX, but I figured the XTX rear skid would never be able to handle one season of aggressive rough trail riding. I expressed this in a post like a year ago. Some people instantly claimed I was wrong and some people even got that offended that they basically told me to fukk off. I hate to use the words "what did I tell you", I just feel sorry for the owners that are affected.

If you want to get creative, build something like the piece shown below to replace the stamped brackets. To be really clever this should extend back to engage with the structure supporting the rear axle assembly.

I'll take a set!! Please send to Clio, Mi 48420
Looks good ;)!

i bet you get some wicked wheelies with those rails like that lol, lean back a little and probaly hangs'em all day

Well my new rails that Ice Age are making are almost done. I spoke with them and all that is left is to be anodized. The first pic is the color that I am going with, I was told that rail is going on an IQ. The second one is my new ones. As you can see I went with straight rails and alittle more heavy duty. I will post more pics once they are on the sled.

That sucks. Guess I'll take the XTX off the list. What I really want is a 136" Nytro.

I don't think I would take it off your list its a great sled. I love the motor and suspenion. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. This is the only problem I have had and have not really heard of anyone else with this problem. I guess I just pushed it alittle to hard.

Booxr,

I see the pics now...thanks. That is the first actual pic I have seen...they look sweet. Mine were supposedly sent to me yesterday. Mine are black and also have a Poalris rail stiffener placed at the bump stop.

I too got the extra stiffener coming.

I hope my polaris edge 136 does me justice in my Nytro! Will get pictures up later next week. I cut my tunnel extension down for my 136. Bought a wrecked MTX pretty cheap and the 153 was just to much for iowa riding. Like mentioned this steel brackets do look pretty cheap.
