The sled I bought has 4" Bergstrom tripples with ski savers......

I'm going to stud the sled (around 96 studs).

My question is: Is 4" too little for a studded RTX???

After speaking with Scott a few days ago, I would think that he would push you towards his 6" if not 8" depending on your riding style. I don't stud my sleds but I do ride aggressive so I went with the 8" on my ER without studs. We will see if that was a smart choice or not.

I say use the 4" triples until they are done, or not satisfied with their performance. If you are riding on snow (as opposed to ice), the extra carbide length isn't going to offer much in the way of extra turning power. Maybe look into a set of aftermarket skis if you want to be more aggressive on the trails.

I don't like to start the season on a new set of carbides, as early season riding is pretty hard on them.

144 studs down the middle and 8" triples. After 2400 miles last year I don't think I would even order 6" .

8 inch TP's with 144 down the middle on Simmons skis.
1500 miles of excellent cornering with that set up

I called Scott B. a couple weeks ago and told him how and where I ride with my unstudded Attak w/ stock skis and he recommended 8" trips w/savers and shim kit is included. I raised the concern about it being too much for no studs and he said "Trust Me". After our conversation, I DO. Anyhow, if I don't like it he'll swap me out for something else. Everything is guaranteed with him.
