I think I'm going with the Powertrail with stock exhaust to start for this winter 250 HP. I will do the Dalton clutching. Do I set the wets up myself or to they come plug and play? I know rider weight is always a factor. $644 for this seems like a great place to start. Just need to get the belly pan protector and 4th wheel. thoughts?

Powertrail or 240 Sm tunes are the way to go. Put on that sticky XS 825 belt you could use stock clutching. My bud uses stock weights with Powertrail SM ,TP Orange spring in secondary, BSB Yamaha spring in the front , and a 35/39 helix with the XS belt. The sled is remarkably smooth with a nice low 2800 engagement and a 8800-9000 shift. Sled radared at 122 last year also. 2+k on his XS last year. I will be running MS 16 and will be experimenting with stock weights and dalton 70s also. Just need some snow!
Seems like many have less clutch issues with the tunes @ 260hp and under. There is no doubt the XS belt has helped many double their belt life. If you want less hassle and more riding then the SM tunes are the best bet. They are limited to around 260hp, quiet and reliable.
That’s not 2 say the 300 tunes can’t be made reliable with octane boost and good clutching, many have had success.
The issues many have had in my mind are overshifting of the secondary at higher speeds. Running a lower offset and 35 finish angle helix angle in conjunction with the XS belt and stiffer secondary spring helps. Dalton black/tan or low wrap Cat Green for big tunes.
Being mindful of loose snow conditions and not holding it to the bar for long distances will also increase belt life.
Setups will vary as alignments are different from sled to sled.
If your like me, you will eventually end up with the biggest tune because power is like a opiate addiction for meatheads like myself.

Ask them at TD. They will get you close. Unfortunately I am the guy who loves to f with clutching on almost every sled I have ever owned. I will make stock flyweights work and then compare them to the daltons which seem to be a little more aggressive down low which may be better for the heavily studded guys.I think I'm going with the Powertrail with stock exhaust to start for this winter 250 HP. The Dalton ramps you need to adjust according on your rpms from tune. You will get info on where to start from tune maker,as far as belleypan,i cant help,as I have never had one,but on the 4th wheel either just buy the add on ones from Yamaha, its cheaper and still works good,or spend more and get a little more, the tri hub will last for at least 5000 miles or more,so if money is tight, just get the add ons,and if sled is 137 8" is all you need.I think I'm going with the Powertrail with stock exhaust to start for this winter 250 HP. Now you have my wheels turning. I wonder if the same setup would work with the Hurricane 240sm tune?
My stock Winder has always run a little low on RPMs with the stock clutching and the 8JP. I have a brand new XS waiting on the shelf. Perhaps I'll give it a try!

You got nothing to loose. 240 tune should be similar. Now you have my wheels turning. I wonder if the same setup would work with the Hurricane 240sm tune?
