DMCTurbo did you do high speed runs on both belts? I know you said you put the 22 tooth gear in, I’m just wondering if your secondary had been shifted fully open and your belt is still trying to spread it open more and can’t which in turn would stress your belt out big time.
I know guys will say there’s room with the overdrive and extra gearing, but be something to check? It’s easy to see with your secondary off and spring out. You can see where your rollers travel ends by the mark on the helix ramp.
When I do a secondary clutch mock shift out on mine without spring in on mine it’s amazing how close it is to being maxed out and I’ve never been over 180 km/ hr. At 200 km/ hr my clutch would to the max or possibly even before 200
Sorry for long message, just my thoughts and hope you can get it figured out

His pink primary 30/90 spring??Ulmer spring. No just slow cruising and pow. I did adjust deflection with the new belt and 80 miles of easy riding and clutches were cool when I pulled it in the garage. Hopefully today is better.

That's correct (I was originally subscribed to this thread) ,
And I agree with you.
Have you had much feedback on the new Dalton secondary spring? What is the recommended spring wrap for the higher horsepower sleds?

My first one blew at 120+ mph, second one at 60-70 mph.DMCTurbo did you do high speed runs on both belts? So today I dropped my deflection a bit with my TP adjuster. No blown belts, I can't see the deflection make any difference however my clutches were cool and no signs of belt slippage. Not sure what's going on, kinda scared to get on it now but I've broke this belt in gingerly for 300 miles, tomorrow I'm going to push it so hopefully I don't grenade another. If I do I'm going back to the stock spring and shimmed helix that worked flawless last year.

I worry that the 22 gear is adding heat to belt, and harder on them.
I just added my 22 gear. Will see how it reacts. Other then radar running, the 22 top gear is something Id rather do without, as the trail snap is better with stock gearing.

I would have thought the 22 would have kept the clutches in a more efficient ratio. If I keep popping belts it'll be coming out that's for sure. Not much fun riding when your scared of pulling the trigger...I worry that the 22 gear is adding heat to belt, and harder on them.

I think gearing up can be your problem. Back in the day I geared up my ZRT 800 for more top end and I started smelling rubber the first few rides. I actually lost performance and I was burning my belt. Went back to stock gearing and everything was fine again.I would have thought the 22 would have kept the clutches in a more efficient ratio. Im also having clutch heat issues which has cost the lives of 2 belts in 500 miles already, lol,,,,,, The one belt was a used one that lasted 30 mile on my current set up, but the first one was brand new and broke in properly. Both happened on same day riding in milder temperatures around minus 3 degrees. After each grenade you could not hold your hands on the clutches.
Im going to pull out my 22 gear, run 8DN belt and change helix to see if this helps. Research and friends have pointed me in this direction to solve issue.
The combo of 22 gear, reverse angle helix and PT tune while running a 1.6 ice cobra track has lead to going back to an almost stock set up.

Gearing taller is harder on the belt... Why do you think the cats come geared so low? Make the gearing do the work... Not the belt...

Anyone else seeing that traditional procross belt slap when getting after the brakes from wot? Have the belt blowers looked at underside of belt guard? This can and will ruin a belt in no time after a few slaps like that.

i put 2500 miles on last season with 21/37 gearing , 270 hp , no belt issues at all . stock clutching except for the dalton weights , clutch were cool most times ,
sometimes i just wonder if it is just the belt it self thats the issue ?
going back a couple years ago i picked up 2 brand new dayco belts . brought them home as i was flexing the belts the rubber in the cogs literally cracked . so don't rule out the belts them self . poor manufacturing of a rubber compound recipe gone bad does happen .

the 1,6 track is a lot of track to turn , and with the 22 tooth . i personally think this could be a recipe for blowing belts ,Im also having clutch heat issues which has cost the lives of 2 belts in 500 miles already, lol,,,,,, The one belt was a used one that lasted 30 mile on my current set up, but the first one was brand new and broke in properly. I like the idea of 8DN for trail riding and piling on miles. Cheap belts comparably.
I may end up not keeping the 22 tooth in there, but we will see how things go. After all that gear is really only ever gonna be needed for over 126mph, which is a radar day only. Many seasons that may never even happen.
Too bad its not alot less work to swap gears, but its a decent size job as I just posted all that info up in my build thread.
Id like to see someone with big heat/belt issues.....go to a SMALLER top gear(or bigger bottom), and make for more snap and see how much cooler the belt/clutches run.
