THis was me. Lol
I really think I fixed the issue though. When the belt blew I could only get about 105. That's when it blew. 8700 rpm 105 mph.
When I got back to the camp I installed the new rollers and set the spring to 6-1. Since then I put on 390 miles. No belt issue. Belt runs cool and I get more top end. Around 115 but never really pushed to any more ( kinda terrifying with all the moose we have).
895 miles on the sled now and really the belt was the only issue.
These secondary's just where not tested At all. My opinion of course.
So what did you figure your problem was? I was running my sled at 6-1 and it seemed to bind on top end. Glad you are getting some miles on it with good results.

It's not perfect yet. There does seem to be some bind at around 70. Very little thoughSo what did you figure your problem was? I was running my sled at 6-1 and it seemed to bind on top end. Glad you are getting some miles on it with good results.

All that power I don't understand why you guys just don't gear them higher. No chance of spring bind and the clutches are much more efficient when not shifted out all the way.
I will be changing gearing at some point ....but I also want the best setup off of the line with my 21/41 gearing and still hit 126mph.

I only have a few hundred miles on my SW but much of it has been breaking trail in deep stuff and there is very little belt dust anywhere near the clutches. This sled reminds me of my Apex as far as clutch heat and belt dust, there isn't much of either. I have always been impressed with Yamaha clutching.
Taller gearing is faster on snow off the line. Track speed in SNOW wins the race guaranteed.I will be changing gearing at some point ....but I also want the best setup off of the line with my 21/41 gearing and still hit 126mph.

I ran 250 miles this weekend with my helix shimmed with washers and set at 6-1. Feels like I'm binding up. Runs to 116gps on the hardpack grade and sits there. I can run at 2/3 throttle and still do 116gps or full throttle and just stops. Tried 8dn and 8jp it didn't matter. Always right to 116 and stop. Speedo said 121. I should be running into the 120's gps on stage 3 evo. I was going to try going back to 3-3. Anybody find a fix yet. Thunder heavy hitters was running to 9200rpms with below zero temps. I also used 1/4 quart of oil. Lower exhaust panel is coated black in 250 miles.

Yep spring bind. Go back to 3-3. Working on solutions besides machining.

I feel the belt is slipping a lot at almost any speed IF you hammer it. On my sled anyway.(as it seems they all are a little different) I know for sure Its slipping on top also. I would not rule out running 6/1. AND of coarse spring bind will certainly cause the slipping too.. Maybe STIFFER better quality spring for secondary
I really think a helix change is in order. Just my two cents On trying to figure out this secondary puzzle!
I would think 6/1 would stiffen spring some? Feel free to correct me if I have this wrong.

to me it looks like you are slipping on acceleration for sure. I would try the 6-1. I noticed right away the shift was better .I feel the belt is slipping a lot at almost any speed IF you hammer it.
