Ben from TD had mentioned earlier that Woodys Yamaha has this figured out and it requires machining of the pocket and I think the sheave. Anyone know any more about this or them in general?
Woodysyamaha Is actually woodys performance center in topshahpm maine.

Any Pics?I took 3 flat washers and sanded one edge flat so they would fit under the helix. I then put them on the surface grinder and took them all down to 0.06 so they were identical. They are placed on the 3 posts underneath the holes in the helix. You have to make sure the flat spot stays to the inside when tightening the helix so they fit properly under the helix. I also used some blue loctite on the post threads. With the shims it's really close getting a thread to protrude through the nylon portion of the flange nuts.

Hope this helps you....
These 2 pics are just a reference to what you can do....but machining the secondary or using a thinner wire spring is a much better option... IMO

Popped another gates 8dn Gates carbon today. 100 miles new belt. DONE with that belt. Going 8jp as it's the Only difference with other guys that have almost identical set up as myself. Something is not right with that belt. I never went over half throttle first 35 miles on the belt today. As I wanted to break it in right. Blew it at 60 mph. Not a clean break today.

I never had any luck with those carbon belts on my 1100's. I did have great results with XTX belts. I'm gonna try one for this sidewinder soon. I have heard the compound hardness is a compromise between the 8JP and 8DN

Had great luck in past with XTX on my cats in past. Has to be carbon belt. I double checked everything before coming up. Offset etc. secondary machined pocket. It's a head scratcher for sure. Has to be belt. Or a bad motor mount or something out of whack.I never had any luck with those carbon belts on my 1100's. I did have great results with XTX belts. how was the temp outside when you did blow it?the reason I ask is the 2 belts I did blow,it was around 0 cel outside and I could feel how hot it was in side the hood of my sled.

It was cold. BUT I have a frog skin vent that I installed right in front of clutch. It's gotta be the belt material.how was the temp outside when you did blow it?the reason I ask is the 2 belts I did blow,it was around 0 cel outside and I could feel how hot it was in side the hood of my sled.

900 miles now original belt still looks good. Not a whole lot of long pulls as lakes are still sketchy.

UPDATE. did 170 miles with 8jp. No blown belt. Had three fairly hard pulls on it. AND held it at 80-90 for 1-2 miles. My max rpm went up considerable. I was at 8800 give or take with Gates carbon 8dn. Now it's pulling 9300-9400. I don't now what popped two carbon gates belts. IS IT POSSIBLE that the gates carbon is too sticky? It's almost like when I blew the two belts the belt was hanging up in the secondary. As I was off throttle then back into throttle. Did a few miles this am. Hammered it once decent. No belt blow. After two a guy just waits for that bang.Popped another gates 8dn Gates carbon today. 100 miles new belt. DONE with that belt. Going 8jp as it's the Only difference with other guys that have almost identical set up as myself. Something is not right with that belt. That's a huge jump in RPM for just a belt change.

Yes I actually think the gates carbon was faster also. I could pull skis at like 55-60 mph. Hoping that was the issue. I got like 205 miles on stock belt now. Gotta check things over when I get home tomorrow.
