After testing this weekend, I trashed another 8JP belt. But....It was because I ran 130 mph GPS on stock gearing 141 XTX!!!!
My gearing is 21/41 and shouldn't even see these speeds!
This is what I did before testing this weekend. I machined my primary as Shagman and I noticed that the primary was at it's limits for travel. I am Stage 4 EVO, EVO bullet muffler and aftermarket clutch kit.
The belt came over the primary sheave, cutting it between the engine and clutch. Like a knife. The pop was so loud that the belt pushed the side panel out and breaking 1 of the mounting points on the plastic.

I've got 600 miles on my shimmed stock clutch ltx D.x. Spring is wrapped to 6-1.
Running 8dn with osp adjuster.
First thing I noticed was the sled shifted good. I ran big speeds all weekend. With this setup I find the sled holds high speed very easy. At one point I could hold 115 mph for miles, even up and down hills. It wouldn't hold speed and Revs like that before shimming.
Top speed was 125 on the pond. (Speedo)
Very happy with this setup and I'll leave it for awhile.

It is a beast and can't say how amazing it is to pull the skis at 110+
@boostednytro was behind me and alongside me (when he could....LOL) most of the time and says he wishes he had a go-pro mounted to show how the sled acts. Transfer is crazy and the ice marbles just fly!
Yes, took it easy after those runs and had a great weekend up north

I was at the dealer today to see about the belt issue. The manager called Yamaha, they told him the issue is when the belt is cold. On cold mornings you should warm the belt for the first 10 kms. Seems A bit of a shot in the dark too me.
The dealer took the sled and checked to offset and center to center. All was good.
I call BS. Mine blew on Saturday. Completely disintegrated.... I had been riding all day so it was anything but cold. About 1650KM on it.

It's obviously bull #*$&@!! It's an excuse so they don't cover the blown belt or damage caused.

I remember DAYCO would replace a belt that came apart, I had sent them many with my 1980 SRX and they would send me the replacement. All you had to pay was postage.

Ditto. Disintegrated at 630 miles. I went up one hole on secondary for a little more off corners. Maybe that was it but I doub it. I pound my Apex and the belt lasts several thousand miles. Never blown just change belt at 2500. It has a D&D clutch kit, intake PC V so making nice power. Obviously not like SW but I do drive it nuts with no issues.

Did Vipers blow belts with the other secondary? I was looking at Toms Viper which I also have here now,(LOL) and see the oldschool pucks and "float" at idle design like the apex was pretty much. I realize the new SW secondary floats once moving but just wondering if there is something we can learn from Vipers(if they did not blow belts) for the Sw.
Anyone slap a viper secondary on SW for alot of miles and see if belts blow?
Dan

vipers didn't have the belt problems like this. I had the mpi kit on my 16, I blew one belt in 3000 miles and that was at wot for an extended period.Did Vipers blow belts with the other secondary? I had a button secondary on for a little bit for testing....Wanted to see if any different helix angles worked better. Not a lot of miles tho to really test.
Going to throw on old clutches and do some testing next time up north.
For me, The belt looks like it went in toward engine by the striped marks on the aluminum on the engine. ****Notice there is no belt mark on the primary (My marker mark is totally eliminated also)
