So I have been breaking in my new viper. I have been going by the motoman break in method by riding it hard with full throttle runs for a split second or two. I was just wondering when everyones getting there oil and chaincase oil changed, the dealer said to bring it back around 500 miles for it's first check up, but I don't know if I should change it before then. When has everyone adjusted the chaincase tension? I only have about 100 miles on the sled and the snow will be gone in a day as warmer temps are coming back. I do need to tighten the track a bit but not sure if I should leave everything else till the first service. I have also noticed when cruising at slower speeds the sled is a bit noisy and rattly, I am thinking its the clutch, when I hammer on it the motor sounds good and strong. When I slow down and coast to a stop I also hear a grinding noise, but it's just before the sled stops it almost reminds me of when I had the nytro and a chunk of ice would get caught between the track and heat exchanger, but I only hear this noise right before the sled stops at like 2-4 km/h. Anyone else hear this? I do have a 1.6" Ice cobra track on it. All in all the sled is a lot more fun to ride then the nytro!! I can't wait for more snow and to get to try it out on the trails. Now I just need to install my clutch kit! What is everyone running for carbides on the 2015 stock tuner skis??

Interesting. My dealer said no more than 3/4 throttle for the first few hundred K.

Oh really, my dealer said not to baby the thing, he said to get on it and to do some full throttle runs just don't hold it wide open for very long at all. Then I read that mototune break in method and they said to open her up to get the piston rings seated good.

every engine ive ever broke in i drive it how its going to be ran....stolen....Never had an issue with any 4 stroke engine ive had

x2 on that break in method!

You haven't rode that thing yet!! It was killing me not to ride mine so I had to get some miles on it before this snow melted! I am riding SW Ontario ( Tillsonburg area )
This is the method I have been using for my break in.

For you guys in Ontario, Haliburton Forest opened up. Decided to go for a rip there today, and put on close to 100 kms.

Actually i thought it would of been crap. But it wasnt. Lots of deep powder everywhere. Theres been enough sleds through it now, that it has been trail blazed with no worry of getting stuck.

We started off with 8 sleds early this morning, and when we left they probably had 20+ sleds running the forest..

NO long WOT but you need to put load on the motor to get the rings to expand and bite. Run it like you stole it but no one knows and they are not chasing youLaLaLa

I put 6in yamaha carbides(made by woody's)on the inside and 2in on the outside for now, after we get good base I'll either move the 6 or put a 4 on the outside, turns good now and still has light steering so a good place to start,if I move the 6 I'll put some 6in shaper bars on the inside and it should rail then, might need them after the turbo shows up:Rockon:

You have enough snow in Tillsonburg wish i knew might have trailered it
