If Yamaha figures out they don't have to build a 100,000. KLM sled, cause no one keeps a sled that long, (they don't have to be that heavy).
So just be like Ski-Doo and build a sled that is only good for 300 hours? I was with ya then ya lost me right there! Sounds like the Doo logic is wearing off on ya! I was one of those dumping a sled when it got close to 7,000 miles because it was near failure, heck I had failure in as few as 1,500 miles. I went to Yamaha because of their ability to avoid failure and last 100,000 kms. Now you think that a person should give that up and go back to dumping a sled every two years cause its worn out!
Sounds like a step backwards not forwards! Wonder if the motorcycle crowd would agree or the car world? Why should only the Snowmobile market have disposable sleds? What do they have in common? Cost! You can buy a Motorcycle or a car for the same price! You should get rid of a Sled when you want to not when it decides for you! I'll stick with heavy 100,000kms sleds thanks! Sounds to me like Doo logic is becoming like a virus! 300hrs? Really!

I just want to add my 2 cents... I've always gone where any 2 stroke sled has gone, done everything they can do. I've never been beat by any 6 or 7 hundred class sled on any of my three 4 stroke sleds. I never have to worry if my sled will get me home and never worry about running out of gas. Sure it would be nice if my nytro weighed a little less but I would never give up the reliability of the 4 stroke yamaha. With $1500 I could get my nytro to compete with the 2 stroke 800's but see no need.
If you watch the shootout results, doesn't the nytro and now viper always win in its class? Also compare what the viper does against the numbers of the 800's, not that big of difference.

After my last Cat...I am threw with them...and threw with 2 strokes....I could careless about weight...I am so happy with the 2011 Apex XTX I just picked up...the sleds just rocks...it handles as well as my cat (and is easier steering with the eps)
I know you guys love your Vipers...but they are not for me...I want a 100 percent Yamaha built sled...if the Apex replacement is a 4 cylinder in the viper chassis...I will be greatly disappointed...Cat quality is CRAP (I know...I owned two)...just compare the build quality of my apex to a viper...I don't know of a single guy riding a 2011 or newer apex that wants a lighter 800 two stroke...not one....people buy apex's knowing they are heavier...but more reliable....and if you ride mostly trails...they are great sleds. While the off trail segment is growing...trail riders still out number off trail riders in north america...I'm not gonna get into that debate....if I was a young buck who rode off trail..I'd probably go with a polaris or a ski-doo 800...but I don't so I won't...very happy with my XTX....and very happy to be back on a yamaha!!!
