I sure wish someone would make a nice kit to convert our emergency brake lever/ cable to activate our mechanical reverse sleds. This would remove some weight and make it nicer functioning. We could use the Pioneer performance emergency brake mechanism. Ulmer or someone PLEASE make us a kit like this. Anyone else want to do this I'd gladly pay you for the kit if it was a quality design. Muffinworks maybe....this could be a big seller guys!

Why don't you just buy it from pioneer?

You missed the point. He wants to remove the bulky, heavy factory reverse set-up. He wants the factory parking brake lever to become the reverse lever. A simple, out of the way light weight cable operated reverse.

Then, you could use Pioneer Perf emergency brake kit so you would still have a parking brake. Eric

Bingo ... Eric nailed it!

Yes that's what I want. I think A LOT of guys would like to do this and we could all benefit from it! Seems like I remember someone in 06' doing this or talking about it but never heard anything after that....seemed to disappear? Perhaps Mr.Sled remembers this post or you might Eric.. it wasn't one of the older locals/usuals that have been here for a while...don't remember his name but he made a special bracket and said it worked flawless. Looked simple at the time but my memory is vague.
crewchief... I love the avatar....she's adorable! I'd like to make a similar photot of my little princess and make it an avatar also...great idea!

Well guys ... it just so happens that last year I let a friend of mine try out my sled for a bit, and he burned up the parking brake pads. Since I didn't feel like replacing them, I removed the entire parking brake assembly .... but I still do have the parts.

I have to do a bit of prep work on my sled this weekend. So I will take a look and see what it will take to make something like this work.

I'll post again with my findings....

I am not sure that I would call it "heavy". I can't see this being worth the effort.

i think i took off about 3lbs of crap when i made mine, very simple and worked better than the stock one. i sold it this year complete.

THANK YOU!!!!

If nothing else, if you'll make me one I'll gladly buy it and then give a demo of the function .... likes/dislikes so others can decide if they'd be interested. I disagree with the other poster because every Delta box II chassis has this ancient reverse and I personally know several guys who would love nothing more then to get rid of the silly handle with all the linkage crap. Which once it starts to wear get's sloppy and you have to fight reverse adjustment or freezes up and can't get handle to slide out. I've seen it a BUNCH, popping in and out, grinding etc. etc.!
All the mountain guys would buy them for weight loss and simple function! Loose all the linkage, handle, caliper and the radiator from the R side would be a big improvement and significant wieght loss! I'm confident removing all the reverse stuff, radiator and fluid in it would yield around 8 lbs.
Please let me know how much to build me one...regardless of the popular vote I want one! Thank you for stepping up....cheers! ;)! :rocks:

Well guys, here's the deal .... I'm sorry to say that we are not going to fabricate a kit to make the brake cable operate the reverse mechanism. I know your bummed out now .. but let me tell you why.

We looked this idea over and over this weekend. We certainly could make this work, but we aren't going to produce them for several reasons:
1. We didn't feel that we could produce a kit and sell it for a reasonable price. The price we would have to charge is much higher than what we felt most people would be willing to pay.
2. The kit would not be easy at all to install. I know that there are many talented people that are good with tools and could install the kit. But the installation would go beyond the skills of the average person.
3. And this is the reason that really made our decision. Building and offering a kit for sale that alters/changes the emergency brake from is original intented use opens up all kinds of safety and liability issues .... most of which we are not willing to take the risk for.

Sorry guys.
