I have called on all apex owners to help this thread out. A lot of people want to purchase a sled.. but can NOT afford to pay the 15k+ price. Why not share the knowledge, and compare apex to apex..and even each "trim" SE GT XTX if it gets to that point.. everyone can use google etc.. and the search function but I'm hoping to get a page that gives a basic break down of the year, and then possibly each trim.. Id love too post a snip bit of what Yamaha says and possibly a video of it ridding with a TY point of view.. this website has a wealth of knowledge.. and I'm still reading...a ton of amazing info on the of Yamaha 4 stokes. Just wanted to give it a try and put it all in one place..

I'm trying to put together a thread where some one looking for an apex could see the difference between each year and model, with of course the videos. I have a couple notebook pages full! I'm looking for a sled just like thatI killed you tube reviews by every magazine sno Trax, snowmobiler, etc. before I settled on my 13 SE that was available

Really not a lot of Apex difference after 2011 -2015 CK and air mono rear skids, eps ,exup except constant ski tweaks which was pointless if you were using single keel stockers with Aggressive Snow Trackers. Then the SS in 2016 but not a better skid and many ways very harsh. Deeper lug tracks available too but many rather have 1.25 ripsaw track since ideal for hardpak trails and Apex really not an off trail sled. Dampers also came about but no proven handling performance improvement or everyone would have installed. I'm not sure what you are looking for after 2011 and before that not much other than rear cooling 2006-2010? The EC Ohlin & RA was nice but all that went away by 2011 too. So your differences are track length from 121 to current 146 which is no big deal either in todays diverse sled markets.

Well I like 15 xtx the best for color scheme, all spring shocks, eps, 144 tip rails, no air shocks to leak down, had all the bugs worked out by then too, did I mention the colors?

Here is my 2010 Apex LTX. I have the electronic Ohlins rear shock and was a nice upgrade from my previuos 05 RX1 skid. ( adjust rear suspension dampin g from button on the handle bar. I had it rebuilt last year at 10,800 miles. I run stock 1.25 ripsaw 136 in with 144 pics down the middle. I run tunners skis when riding trails and MTN skis for backcountry riding( mostly ungroomed logging roads. other mods from factory is Mtn bar ( raised to 8 in height, 3 inches of foam in seat( little more rider forward for comfortt and carry extra fuel caddy (1.5 gal). Mid height windshield and Yamaha hand soft gaurds. My model year is the year before power steering. I currently have 12,991 miles and the sled still runs awsome! Good luck choosing a machine old Ex!

Bluebullet cheated & put a gorgeous Mount Katahdin behind his sled. 4bangdan needs a large breasted swimsuit model on his to keep it fair. Because 2 mountains are better than one!
