I am going to give my carbs a good cleaning for the first time and I am looking to buy the tool necessary to sync my carbs on my own after I clean them, and I would like some input from you guys on which one to buy...??? Which ones have you had good/bad luck with??? What's the best 'bang for my buck' ??? Also, any pointers or hints on carb cleaning?? I have cleaned many carbs before on two smokes, but have never pulled the carb rack off my Warrior...

Thanks!! :rocks: :4STroke:

Pulling the carb rack off is no big deal....you can just leave it on the machine though and flip it upside down....stick a few rags under...pull the bowls that way....I myself take them completly off to work on them and that a few more steps....remove the throttle/choke/coolent lines/oil line....pretty straight forward....as for the carb sync tool....I need one too...dont wanna spend the $$ for the dealer to do such a simple job...I think the manometer is about $150-$200.....

Looks like a very good price....just wondering has anyone really needed to do this? Have not done any synching on any of mine, would I see a difference? They all run awesome right now since last carb cleaning.

I have also wondered how much this helps. I have been looking to buy the sync tool as well, but can't justify the price for maybe only a few uses.
The best I have found is the Morgan Carbtune www.carbtune.com

it does help, idles smoother and runs smoother, starts easier. you can usually get it done for free @ a ty ride.

Indy, its been awhile since we have had a sync party on a ty ride.

But, yes it is worth it. idles much smoother, just runs better.

And yes that is the tool you will need.

The Morgan Carbtune works great. No worries about liquids leaking out or mercury to deal with - they are stainless steel rods that float in the tool's tubes. Judging by how sensitive they are when hooked up to the sled, it's an accurate tool. Just went a head and bought one because if I had my dealer do the synching once, I'd a just about had the tool paid for. This way I can use it anytime I want without feeling guilty ;)! . I've done mine twice now (once each season) and they were off a bit. The first time I did it, one of the carbs was WAY off - when brought back in line the sled idled much better and noticed a snappier response out of it. Should be done anytime your carbs are apart - if you want to do the job right IMO.

Have the Morgan as well, great tool, go get it!

You'll be able to run the sled for quite a while without the vacuum tubes attached, but I went ahead and purchased some "tee's" at Car Quest so I could idle as long as needed to get the carbs synched. The CarbTune should ship quick...think I head mine in 4 days - from the UK!

4strokelover87 - good choise, I've got the pouch too :-)

Good thinking, vogelm1!!! I will most likely do the same!!! Probably at the same time I add my ball valve to shut the carb heat off and cure the hard start problem!!! The website said 8-10 working days I think, but hopefully it does get to me quicker!!! I'm assuming it comes with pretty clear instructions??? I wouldn't think it could be too difficult, but I've never used one before....

thanks for the input guys!!

Yeah, the instructions are geared more for bikes but the general concepts are the same. They will talk about screwing in adapters and such...no need for that on the sleds, just slide up the pinch clamps on the vacuum lines leading to the carbs (the chain case side just has a plug over the top of it), slip in the tee's, and slide the rubber tubes that come with the CarbTune over the nipples on the carbs. Get the carbs all pulling the same vac and you're good to go. It's very easy.
