There doesn't seem to be chain case oil in my tank after sitting all summer should she be ran warm to check .

Doesn't need to be warm. Sometimes it's hard to see the oil thru the little window, can't tell if it's full or empty. I have to jack the rearend up and run the track, then I can see the oil moving in the glass to determine how full it is.

I had the same issue, not being able to see any oil when looking through the sightglass. I took it into the dealer, and the mechanic couldn't see any oil either. As it turned out, the oil line was above the window, so it was full. I wasted some time and money, but I learned a lesson about sightglasses!
