I am currently in the middle of changing my track out on the sidewinder. Has anyone had issues with the driveshaft spinning on the chaincase side?
Last year I replaced all the bearings on the sled with skf bearings and noticed maybe the bearing spun slightly on the chaincase side but nothing like the clutch side. I installed Travis’ driveshaft saver on the clutch side and upon pulling everything apart the bearing has not spin anymore on the shaft but looking at the chaincase side it almost looks like it maybe spinning somewhat? It’s about $500 for a new shaft and drive cogs here in Ontario.
The sled has 12,500km on it and the drive cogs still look to be in good condition. I am wondering if I can just clean everything up and install some green bearing retainer on the chaincase side to prevent the bearing from spinning? The shaft slides into the bearing fairly easy, when spun by hand with no load the bearing doesn’t spin on the shaft. What would you guys recommend?

I have a drive axle c/w cogs for a 129 or 137 with 1000kms on it if you are interested.

I noticed the chain case side bearings slightly spinning as well on both machines.
The one with 7400 miles looked the same as the one with 2900 miles.
Both received new shafts & BOP expanders.
We'll see how everything looks in another 7000 miles or so.
Not going to worry about.

It's hard to tell without measurement, but when reasambleing be sure to clean inner race of bearing and shaft with parts cleaner or equivalent. Both ends of course.

Well I measured the shaft and it was 1.769” and bearing was about 1.770” a little hard to measure it in the sled. So it doesn’t seem terrible.

With the tech we have now in 2020 I can’t believe we are dealing with shafts spinning in the bearings lol..
