Changing Oil: Running sled without air box

I'm in the process of changing the oil and filter in my Apex. Manual says to add 2 liters, run for a few minutes and then top up to full mark. Is it okay to run the sled without air box and sensors etc not in place? Just long enough to warm up and determine there are no leaks.
