I am changing my plugs for the first time. I have the seat off but I'm not sure how to get the gas tank off. Can anyone give me the next steps please.

well you have to take quite a bit apart first off take top headlight plastic off, lifts up at the back then the sides of the plastics off of both sides of the sled. Then take the ignition off ,the headlight adjustment screws out and the gas cap off so you can take the top plastic off of the gas tank. now you can unbolt the back of the tank and slide it out so you can disconnect all 4 hoses ,it will take about 2 hours or so to do, first time
I would just remove the gastank.

Yeah, I couldn't see anyway to get the gas tank off without taking that top piece of plastic off first (and it is connected to the headlight adjustment screws).

Are the plugs just worn or did you foul them out?

I just bought the sled used, with 2000 km on it, so I wanted to check the colour and put a new set in, so I know the mileage on them.
It takes about 10 seconds of cranking to cold start. I was hoping this would improve that, but I doubt it.

Did you kill the ignition under wide open throttle the last time you shut it down? If you didn't, I wouldn't bother paying any attention to the color of the plugs. I don't think that changing the plugs is going to help the cold start issue but have read in this forum about an ECU flash that is supposed to get rid of it.

It is running well once it starts, so I am assuming the plugs are OK, right?
I did start it a few times when I first got it and shut it off before it fully warmed up.
But I have ran it no problem since then.
Do you guys think I should bother?...or just keep some pairs just in case.
What is the recommended mileage on a plug change?

Owners manual says inspect every 4000 km and replace if necessary.

check your owners manual...all nssesary maintenance and part numbers for minor parts (spark plugs, lubricants, fuses and relays) should be in there.

yea i kinda lost it somewhere in my house, but it doesnt matter, i know the difference now
The headlight and plastic other than the two bolts in each upper sidepanel can stay in place tank can easily be persuaded by just slightly bending plastic up.Doesnt hurt a thing.

I got it done today. It able to leave the top plastic in place, so I didn't have to remove it and mess with the headlight adjustment bolts.
I just pushed the rubber gasket type thing on the fill tube below the plastic (pushed the rubber, bit by bit in a circular direction). It was warm out so it was quite flexible. I think I'll heat it up when I'm putting back through.
Once that was done, the pastic can be pulled up and the tank slid back.
