What do you use to clean the glaze off your clutch sheaves??? Someone told me a Brilo pad anther told me 220gritt....400 gritt...whats the corret answer TY

dont put any of that crap on your clutches. just get some soapy water and clean it, then take a scotch brite pad and scuff them up moving from the outside of the clutch to the inside (up and down, not side to side).

I think the prev owner used 220 paper...

to fix this sould I do, 400...soapy water then scotch brite

Interesting thread as I have a 79 enticed that the secondary is glazed brown from previous owner. Can't really get it off. Any tips for an extreme case?

Use contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol as it will not leave a residue. If you use WD 40, brake cleaner or carb cleaner it will leave residue in the pores of the metal which will cause issues when the clutch gets warmed up.

If the clutches are really dirty there are guys on here that used their dishwashers with a little powdered detergent as this really cleans the clutches. If you use it, dont tell your wife what your are doing!!!

After cleaning you can use fine or extra fine grit sandpaper, just re-clean with rubbing alcohol and air to get the grit off.

Dont forget about the belt itself. Take it inside and wash with warm water and dish soap. This should be done especially with brand new belts.
