when the warning light flashes and shows the engine sybol and ther is a code 84 at the bottom anybody know what this means. :yam:

Should be in the manual.. I'd look but it's outside in the sled.. Could it be that darn T.O.R.S. acting up? Check for cable free play. MM.

I've seen this on the board quite often.

APPARENTLY, the throttle cable is too tight, making the TORS kick in. I believe the fix is to loosen the lock nut on the adjustment, give the cable a coupla turns and retighten.

I stand ready for any corrections...

torx switch

will check the torx switch this norning, and adjust it , on my 97 sx wen the torx switch is wen you realise the trottle to ildle and then open it pu again it would not go,this rage you are driving it and it will go to ildol and wen the light quit flashing it will go again till the next time very dangerous because you dont know wen it going to quit on you

The most common problem is indeed too tight of cable, On mine, the cable was miss routed, causing a bind when turned, setting code 84 and backfiring.

Yes most common problem is too tight adjusted cable but my brother got the code 84 and it was not tight at all in cable.
There are to many that have had this problem that I think it must be somthing else, something like the switch in the carburator that is not working properly or needs some adjustment.
Well I cant find a t.o.r.s switch at all. Is it activated by the TPS ?
Maybe the TPS needs an slight adjustment if you have adjusted the Idle a bit ?
Our dealer told us that code 84 was lit if the t.o.r.s had been triggered and was just showing that it has been triggered and not that it is triggered right now. If it is triggered you cant miss it :D .
So my brother could ride his sled without any problem even though he had code 84 once in a while.

I will check this with my dealer.

That's interesting that the light is staying on but it is running ok. When mine acted up, it was instant backfiring and power loss, along with the light flashing. If I let it idle for 10-20 seconds, the engine cleared out and the light went off and it was fine again for a while. Haven't had a chance to ride it since the cable was re-routed, but the dealer had put 9 miles on it.

Sure hope it's fixed, and hope it isn't going to be an ongoing issue. Too hard to get it back to the dealer.
