Perhaps you've got the set on backwards? Or maybe right and left side switched around? Did you try dry fitting them first?
They fit well for me, and it help up when I put the sled on it's side and slid down a road a bit.

not backwards for sure... they just didnt want to sit flush. I shortened the grommets with some gorilla tape so that they sit flush now. they look nice, it was a kick in the groin to have that happen. thanks for the advice grimm.
