compression testing.. need advice please!! UPDATE

for those who are interested... I took my sled to the dealer for a leak down test... turns out my valves were out of adjustment big time.. worst leak was 52%. all intake leaks so she is all back together and tech says she should run better than new. Owner of the shop who is owns several speed/drag records personally was on hand and before tests were even done, he said it's probably valves.... says he rarely do rings so people should be careful jumping to that and the leak down is the way to go.

thanks to all of you who offered thoughts and suggestions. TY ROCKS

Keep an eye on it though. If they go tight again its for sure time for new valves springs and maybe seats cut.

odd thing was he said he has done valves for people at 1500 miles... really depends. I think the key to this is he told me the first symptom is harder cold starts with no increase in oil consumption.

Simple test for leaking valve is a vacuum gauge at in throttlebody or carb boot.If needle swings back and forth rapidly.Valve.

It is not normal to have to adjust valves on a Yamaha even at 12,000 mi.Rare actually.Unless dirt/dirty water went through motor.
