I nstalled my free contour camera on the inside of the visor bill on my MotorFist helmet. It works well there and is not visible to others till they get right up to you. All the buttons are visible with the helmet on and you dont have it sticking up above your head. I can pull the bill down and it is centered on my gauges and the nose of the sled or push up to show out in front of me - at eye view.

Here is the first video I shot with it.

not bad for the first time, how long did it take to upload the video,i'm also in the learning curve with my new goprpo, tried uploading a 2 minute video and would of took hours,????

I did that 10 min 1 gig file in about 45 mins. I think there is a better way to do it but I have not found it yet. I just set it to upload and then surfed the site while it did it.

I am also going to try a lower DPI setting.

With the Gopro I have found it easier to use Explorer and just copy the file across. Don't use it's software to transfer.

Yes moving it to the computer is no problem it is uploading it to You tube that takes time. I have 100 mbp internet and it still took over 45 min.

I mounted mine on the side of my helmet. Easy to turn on and off and even after a tumble it never missed a beat.

I recommend either putting your visor up more or mount it on the side of your helmet the way the video comes out makes it look like you are looking down all the time.

I shot that video on purpose that way - It was the first run with the gauges in place and I cannot watch them at WOT I did not realize that the frame rate would be that out of sinc with the digital gauges. I also wanted to see the skis off the ground.

I shot other videos that day with the visor up and it works beautifull and the helmet is not in the view like it is when you mount them on the side. Besides that there is no flat area on the helmet to install the camera mount and I would have had to drill and mount with screws.

I wanted to be able to leave it in place and shoot at a moments notice but do not feel that a 51 yr old fart looks righteous walking around with a camera sticking up a foot over his head :drink:

I mounted mine to the side and yes you can see the helmet but that is because of the modular design mostly. If I could have mounted it lower it would have been better but the design of the helmet would not allow that. I can crop the helmet out because it is barely in the view, with software I have but prefer the helmet in the shot (each to thier own). My contour camera is not screwed on it is mounted with the stick on mount that contour provides and there is no flat spot on a helmet to mount to really because, well helmets are round. That 3M sticky will not pull off, it has to be cut off!

I agree the camera mounted on top of the helmet looks a little goofy but I worry more about taking it off with a tree branch or an ejection from the sled even at slow speeds. With the camera mounted on the side of the helmet is hardly noticed and better protected from damage. I put my camera on in the morning and leave it there till a battery change is needed or the end of the day comes along.

There is nothing wrong with your choice of a camera mounting place it works well! If you like it then perfect! I shoot my video at a lower quality just to reduce file size and help upload times. You can try that if you want to. I think the Video pad that came with the contour may drop the size because a 20 min movie uploads fairly quickly!
