I have been riding skidoo he past ten years, but i am set on trying a yamaha 4stroke for the 2014 season. I am serisously considering the 2013 nytro. I heard they fixed the darting and handling ussues on these. Just looking on some input on what i should be prepared for. Also im coming off of an e tec 800 and want to be able to run with or be quicker than that. Im not sure if i want to drop 4k on a supercharger so i was wondering if there is a trail reliable mild boost turbo out there for these? I also see for 2014 they are going to be running the nytro powerplant in the cat chasis. Im i still better off with a Nytro? I want the rider foreward ergonomics like my xp. Thank you.
In reading the above, I think the only sled that Yamaha makes that will suit your needs would be a 2014 Nytro snowchecked with the $1500 Yamaha approved supercharger kit. You may not have quite the exellent handling of your Doo but the new ones handle great in my opinion. You'll have crazy horsepower at an affordable price with the rider forward position you want and the big bump capability you also crave. Just my thoughts.....
Yes the Viper is cool, but sticking with what you mentioned you wanted, the above is your best option.
Thats what i was thinking im not expecting it to handle the same, but just not so bad i cant even keep up. I really want the crazy horsepower of a supercharger to spank the 800's my buddies and i usually ride on the the lake. But i see the supercharger costing around 4000 not $1500? is that a deal you get for a snowchecking?

Yes only if you snow check a 2014, the low elevation super charger is $1800 thoughKoke1 said:yamariv said:Koke1 said:I rode yamaha in the late 90's when the sx chasis came out. Ok that may not be a bad price considering i see the 2014 nytro is dirt cheap even at snow check i think i saw one for around $9000 snow checked. Add that super charger youre at around $11,000 for a 170hp sled which does not seem so bad at all

Keep us posted if you decide to snowcheck one. Id be interested in hearing what you think after a few miles compared to your Doo.

I will.l i actually found a snowcheck price of $8900 today. Im guessing they are so cheap because of the introduction of the Viper. Like i said earlier im prepared for it not to handle like an XP through the twisties its hard to beat. As long as its not horrible and i can get used to it it will be just find. The Nytro is the chasis they snowcross so i dont see any reason it cant be big bump capable and rip through the twisties! Im taking alot of crap from my friends who all have 800 twins, but a supercharged nytro would quiet them haha.

It won't be horrible handling at all. Cause of the big bump suspension it sits higher and will take more rider input around corners. It could be considered a bit more tippy than most sleds but there are trade offs for different types of handling.
I personally would not be worried at all trying to keep up with any sled in the twisties if you are an experienced rider who's not afraid to work the sled. I personally love the handling!

Im ok with a little tippy. I ride really hard and put alot of input in the corners. it cant be any worse than a Polaris Rush ive rode them and they are tippy. The nytro has a little more weight up front so you must be able set it up so the front end really sticks if you want it too??

OFT relocator would be the first change(more natural sweep to the bars) for me. Is yamaha not offering the turbo during spring check this year?
Couple threads you might be interested in but tons to read in the Nytro section.

Yes they are offering a turbo and a supercharger. The turbo is only for mountain models and is not covered under factroy warranty. You can get the supercharger for flatlanders and it is covered under factory warranty. IMO they are the same price so youd be nuts not to go with the supercharger. Its alot more expensive system and its instant power unlike a turbo. I have heard some things about the bars but i heard its only ackward while seated and after the first day people are used to it. Looks like i have until April 15 to decide. thank you all for the input i was gonna give up on it until i heard about the $1500 supercharger for snowcheck.

LOVE RIDER FORWARD , DOO 800 PROBABLY FASTER TIL IT BLOWS , TURBO IS FOR 6000 FT. AND ABOVE AND SUPER CHARGER IS BELOW 6000 FEET. FUEL RANGE WITH STOCK TANK IS ONLY 150 KM , ON NITRO

Doo 800 is alot faster when they are stock, but no way is it faster after a nytro supercharged...thats why the spring check deal with the supercharger is the only way ill get one. otherwise the super charger kit costs over $4000. then its not worth it. and yes i am a little concerned with ranger consideringit has such a small tank. thanks for the input!

Not with a hair dryer unless you get the trail tank.
Stock they only hold 27 litres.

I will supercharge it because thats facotry backed not going to turbo it. So nytro with the the factory backed supercharger how many miles could i get per tank driving it not babying it? This is important to me ive had sleds that sucked on fuel and it was always a pain!
