cooling fan relay???

I dont ever hear my cooling fan come on and I have problems with over heating if I stop for 30 4-5 seconds or more if riding hard. I hooked the fan directly to the battery and it works just fine. I need to now check the relay or is there something else that might be causing the problem?

The fan relay is the same as most of the others except the headlights. Try swapping it with the one for the brake light and see what happens. If the brake light no longer works, that confirms it's defective. Also, did you check the fuse?

Where are the relay and fuse located? Our computer is not working so I dont have access to the service manual I downloaded.
