Hey guys...had a little accident and poked my coolant hose with the drill. It's the one right in front of you right foot behind the chaincase. Anyhow, I have a new one on order but I was wondering...do I need to bleed the system when I replace this hose? I was hoping to replace the hose, top it up, run the machine with the cap off and let it burp itself. Or do I need to burp the system from the back (where the bolt is under the flap)?

I just picked up my new warrior(yesterday) & I had a "block heater" put in it. ($35.00)
I goes in the same hose you punctured.
The mechanic jacked up the back end removed the black cover at
the rear of the running boards & removed the plug at the centre of the back.
He filled up the reservoir until it flowed out the rear hole,
put the plug back in & started the engine, he let it run for about 3 minutes, loosened the plug & let it drain some more until there were
no bubbles coming out. tighrtened it up checked for leaks & put it back to-gether.
Curiosity, what here your doing in that a area, installing a heat gauge?
I have a guage to put in & I read in a post that this is where someone put
their sender.
Hope this helps

The brackets that hold the side panels on were all loose to the point of falling off. I had to re-rivet both of them and the drill slipped through the hole hitting the hose right at the bottom near the 90 degree bend. Is that where the block heater goes? I was considering putting one in so maybe now will be a good time. Where did he route the wire to plug it in?

The Mechanic ran the 110 v wire between the shroud you were
working on & the frame back to the footwell, into the footwell & the plug is stored
in the rounded rectangular opening above the footwell
Its a snug fit so I can't see it falling out. He kept the cord short
so it wouldn't dangle out the side if I ever forgot to store it properly
I figured for $35.00 it was worth it to have it available on those -20 deg f mornings, makes starting a lot easier.

Careful...Not sure your talking about the same hose...I just installed a coolant heater it goes in the hose that runs straight down from the thermostate between the chaincase and the oil tank...Got a great tip from my Yamaha dealer...Took two pieces of wood and a C clamp..Clamp the hose at the top...Cut out the piece and install the coolant heater...Only lost about 1/2 cup of antifreeze...Simply poured it back in when completed...According to Yamaha no need to bleed it if you do it this way, just run it with the cap off for about 10 minutes...Wow first time I gave advise only because I'm mechanically challenged, and normally just read and learn....Later

Thanks for the tip on cutting into the coolant hose.
You're right I just presumed the hose Rxwonder was talking about
was the one running down from the thermostat housing.
Hope I didn't give him bad information.
