How cracked are we talking about? And what caused it?
i dont know how big the crack was or if my jumping and pounding on the machine stressed it or added to the crack the dealership handled everything. it did leak enough to creat a small puddle in a few hours

Hmm. Sounds minor. Probably the kind of thing you could patch up with a little JB Weld.
haha jb weld and duct tape possibly my dealer got a new one covered so it's all good
Most of the tanks leak at a mounting hole where bolt passes thru at the seam of the tank. A grommet or reinforcement at bolt hole probably would help. Some have leaked at the fitting where oil line goes from tank to engine. A o-ring or deformed fitting prevents line from sealing. plowking

I think and this is just an opinion, but the oil tank gets as hot as the oil, which is right around 160 to 180. The holes over the oil tanks really allow snow to get in. The cold snow on the hot tank make it brittle, and it cracks. Maxdlx

I searched and this thread came up.
Making room for my SideWinder I found small amount of oil under my 2007 Attak GT. Where is the most common place to look for the crack and what is the best solution. Replace with take-off part from BOP, OEM replacement, or 3rd party "better". This is my back up sled now but I'm keeping it for now - over 10k miles.
Thanks
Jack

Mine was at bottom right corner where the support bracket meets the tank. I went with the fancy aftermarket one, but that's up to you.

I just installed the same one. Mine cracked and I fixed it with jb weld. Only lasted one season. New one is guaranteed for life.
