so I'm riding my one week new to me 2011 Apex and totally enjoying myself on busy Northern Michigan trails when I see an oncoming group going way to fast. I pull off the trail and next thing I know the last sled hits he head on. Well after an ambulance ride and a long ride home with a broken arm it's time to access the damage. Upper and lower left control arms, destroyed hood and broken lower bulkhead ear. I have no interest in tackling a job like this with one arm. I am looking for opinions on how much it's worth in this condition. I have not decided to list it for sale and just looking for honest advise. It has 3300 miles and was mint. Still runs great and I paid 7k which I thought was a decent price. Thanks

Most money = rebuilding or parting it out. Which obviously is a terrible answer given your one arm.

As is if you were in my area (AK btw) probably 2-3000 tops. I'm hoping the other guy had insurance?

What he said did the other guy have insurance? Do you have insurance? Do you have pictures of sled? I have two good arms and willing to help depending on where you live. I do have a sled lift and tools could bring it here. if you have insurance they total it buy it back motor alone is worth 2k lots of guys dropping them in razors and other side by sides. Is the tunnel straight?

Location under your name is always nice to see. This way people that are willing to help a fellow sledder out can see how close/far away you may be.

IMG_1085.JPG IMG_1086.JPG IMG_1087.JPG IMG_1088.JPG IMG_1090.JPG IMG_1091.JPG I live near Montague In West Mi. I'm going to likely fix it. Does anyone have experience with bulkhead saver kits? Should I just find a bulkhead? I'm worried about safety of myself and fellow riders. I was really hoping someone would say 4-4500. (Please don't laugh as I have no clue) but For a grand in parts someone would get a really nice sled for $5-$5500. This is my third Apex and I love the power steering.

Welcome. Wish it was under better circumstances.

Wow that really sucks. Glad to hear you're ok thou for the most part,
Hope you recover quickly. Sounds like it could have been a lot worst.

It's great people like slowrider06er that make this sport so great by offering to help a fellow sledder;)!:jump:

Give Barn of Parts a call for some prices on the parts you need.

My bulkhead repair kit will fix that broken ear in no time at all. I sell around 35-40 repair kits a year and have Never gotten negative feedback. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Yes, thank you for the offer slowrider. It's much appreciated. I don't have the rest of the ear so I'm unclear if the saver kit will work but I will call on it next week. Now to find the rest of my parts. thanks everyone. This is a great site and with a very helpful group of people sharing a common passion.

Im sure Travis will let you know if his kit will take care of the problem. I'm glad that your OK sled can always be replaced/ repaired. If you need anything or a extra hand :) pm me.

If Travis says it'll work then it will. He's a stand up guy and won't bs you just to sell a kit.

Your lucky just a broken arm that looks rough.

Enjoy the rebuild though you'll hate it during but after your done you'll miss turning a wrench on the sled.

Realized you might not know. Travis is hibshman25

I used one of travis's repair kits on a 04 warrior it has been in there for over 3000 miles and my boy is not very easy on it.

Did you have insurance on your sled ? And what happened to the other guy ? Any witnesses ? Why isn,t his insurance covering this ?

What he said. I'm curious too. Your body was stationary / stopped but the other guys whole body was traveling at so many miles per hour. Therefore he must have flown somewhere like into a tree or something? :sled2:

Yes, I was completely stopped. The other rider was not injured at all nor did he care about my injuries. He and his buddies left before the Sherrif and Ambulance arrived. It's a very lengthy story that I would love to share about his/my insurance, charges etc. but I can't at this time. The good thing was I was not killed and although the other rider was 100% at fault I'm glad he was not injured. Unfortunately he will not learn from this. I have a two up Venture 4 stroke and I thank God every day that this was not my wife or little Girl in this crash. Not to get pushy religious on anyone but my daughter said "Daddy don't forget your snow Angel pin" and stuffed it in my Yamaha coat before I left. It's an Angel on a snow machine pin. I told her it saved my life. Sorry for the long post. If anyone comes across parts let me know. It will need to wait until summer as its a little tough turning a wrench with a broken arm. Be careful folks and remember ZERO tolerance!
