I am wanting to make a custom setup with a turbo off of a 2.2L 4cyl Chrysler Omni, Charger, or Lazer. But I dont know how that compares to some of the turbos running in these 4 stroke kits out there. Can anyone give me the specs (exhaust wheel, compressor wheel, A/R ratio, and any other specs that important)on the Chrysler Lazer turbo as well as some of the other turbos on the 4 stroke turbo kits? The Summit on Thunderstruck had a turbo off of a Dodge Cummins an HX35 I believe. Would not that have a tremendous amount of lag? Any Ideas?

turbo DIY

Search for posts from a guy named Snowmotion or Snomotion. He was a frequent poster some time ago. He turboed his 03 RX1 using a takeoff turbo from a 2.2 Chrysler. He is a very talented fabricator and welder.

anyone?

Does anyone else know this guy with the 2.2 Chrysler takeoff turboed RX1. I used the search function and cant find any posts about this? Thanks

On the summit you have to run a big exhaust housing with a big A/R because it is a 2-smoke. If you want to run higher boost you are going to find the 2.2 turbo is way to small. Garretts potatoe is a popular turbo.

Edit:
I should correct myself, I need to do that a lot, the 2.2s had a few different turbos on them is it a VNT

2 main turbos used on the 2.2's was the mitsu turbo and the garrett. the garrett is the better turbo for more power but the mitsu may spool a bit faster. on cars the mitsu is Always swapped out in favour of the garrett unit for the budget modders.

mitsubishi eclipse upgrade is the tdo5h turbo. Mcxpress uses the tdo4h turbo on their kit. The tdo5h is bigger but it didn't seem to have much lag. I think their 400hp kit has the tdo5h, but I am not positive. I had an 03 rx1 motor with a front mount custom tdo5h in a king kat chassis. The motor had carrillo rods and all the fixins, but with that wild chassis you couldn't climb on more than 18 lbs. boost cause it was too crazy and uncontrollable. That turbo worked great with the yami motor.

If you can find a Mitsu 16g that would be a great turbo. Try looking in the market place on DSMtuners.com and you should find a bunch of used ones. If you want to go new forcedperformance.net are great people to deal wth. That turbo is good for 350+ HP.

Negative. MCXpress does not use the tdo5h in any of their kits. The MCX400 kit uses a mod turbo made by MCXpress using exhaust and mid section out of a Volvo turbo (don't know which brand or model) combined with a compressor housing off a Audi turbo (don't know which brand or model). Erik Marklund told me this when we visited MCXpress in Februry 2007 to install the MCX400 kit in my friends Apex. BTW - it did make 377 HP at 20 lbs running on Sunoco GT Plus 104. This turbo does have some lag.

The Mitsu 19T could also be used on the RX or Apex engines. It has the same response down low as the 16T but with more mid and top end to it.

Member T-bird runs it in his '08 Apex Mountain with success.

With great success LaLaLa
I don't have any numbers so i don't know the diffrence vs the 16T blower, and the races i have won against other TApex'es don't have to be because more power, it could be better clutching, thanks for all the help rxrider, but soon it's time to go to MCX, i want to know for sure, but pant to seat feeling is that the 19T have much more airflow, without any slower spoolup!
For me it was a great upgrade, that are going to be standard in MCX turbokits from what i heard!
