There was a hold up on delivery of e-tecs to dealers because of epa. This must have been why. I wonder if it will be 2.6 after 600 miles, when that e-pump reach break in point and readjust itself to use less oil.

The e-tec is one of the sleds I am considering vs 09 xtx nytro.

I doo have a 06 sdi which get about same mileage as the vector and does not use much oil. I get about 200 miles per tank with some to spare.

That e-tec sounds like it could be something special if they hold up. I read they get about 22-26 mpg!!!! Unreal!! I can't even get 100 miles on a tank on my Nytro!! :o|

If you read that out of supertrax, that is no big suprise. In there recent magazine they were comparing all the best gas mileage machines, they are saying that the Etech gets up to 26mpg, the nytro gets 20+ mpg. They also were saying last year how there 800r rev xp was getting 25 mpg. Amsnow magazine is a bit more realistic when they show the Apex Ltx getting 13.5mpg, the nytro getting 15mpg, the polaris 600rr getting about 7mpg, and the cat 600 getting about 9mpg. Supertrax always seems to be 5 mpg's high or so in there real world mileage. They also are probably using a different measure of a gallon since they are in Canada.

Supertrax goes by Imperial gallons which is larger than a US gal.

I will be riding this season with a good friend that just took delivery of a 600 etec XP Renegade. It will be interesting to see how this sled performs. He would have gone for an XTX if it came with a larger gas tank. The tank size is a big issue with him. G.B.

I hate when people don't buy a sled because something as little as a gas tank. If he wanted the XTX so bad buy a gas tank for 300 bucks or get a tour buddy for cheaper insted of getting whole different sled that you might not enjoy!

Rumors are that Feb '09 E-Tec 800R will be BORN! their suppose to release a MID season LIMITED model...like I said RUMORS it'll be something to watch for...

Don't forget freinds they still use 2 STROKE OIL @ $49.00/3.78L or US gal. and will they actualy get 25mpg, thats like cars with window stickers indacating MPG tested in a shop on rollers with PERFECT conditions and you always end up getting 3 to 5mpg less than the advertised STICKER ratings! can`t wait to see the REAL DEAL thats on snow in the real WORLD! trying to keep up with us on a lake somewear :4STroke:

Not a rumor, its true

Are we talikn' about Doos here? My local dealer was just telling me they have not been able to deliver most of the new Doos cause of bad drive shafts. They are really P.Oed about having to sit on all that stock waiting for a repair that appears to be nearly "fleet-wide" and took several months to be addressed.

Or are we talkin' bout somthin' else? :)

The drive shafts are only on the '08 and early, as in last winter '09 models. Why they would wait until the beginning of the season to address the issue that was clearly present last year is up for debate. Not sure what this has to do with the e-tech though? It only makes sense that an 800R e-tech is around the corner, and I welcome the technology. I don't care if it is from ski-doo or any other sled manufacturer, it is good for the sport.

x2 'cause I might be in for 1, "DOO" is the only brand I've never owned yet...who knows it might be the 1! if it proves out to be as GOOD as our 4 strokers...will see how they perform on the white stuff

It's more than just a gas tank that appeal to people. It's the fuel mileage, which will probably drop on the e-tec if your someone that likes to be on the flipper a lot!! But still, if your getting 16-18 mpg being on the gas, that's much more than what I'm seeing on my Nytro. Also consider handling, storage, hand warmers, etc.. Every sled has it's quirks, but some of these things mean a great deal to many. That's why researching these things is very important and people that are less brand loyal will buy what suits their needs vs. buying a sled because of the logo and dealing with the issues!!

x2 right on the nose!
