I've ordered a new bolt for the speedometer gear 3 times now and every time it doesn't fit. Is it possible that the big boy shafts you can get that have been modded to fit the earlier apex models are a different size bolt?

Unfortunately the m8 didn't fit. One size up from m8? M10 is too big

Possibly if the shaft is not OEM, and is an aftermarket, it could be imperial threads (3/8"), although not sure why they would if it was specific to a Yamaha.
If the M8 doesn't even come close to fitting, threads could be stripped, or it is imperial thread size.

The m8 slips right in. Threads look good. Going to the hardware store tonight to get something to pry my plug caps off...they got fouled.Possibly if the shaft is not OEM, and is an aftermarket, it could be imperial threads (3/8"), although not sure why they would if it was specific to a Yamaha.

It's a 3/8. Just happens to be a fine thread and not a coarse thread like I bought...go figure.
