OK I have my new Autometer digital temp gauge installed, thanks Allen Ulmer for the parts they came right on time! At what temp do you recommend shutting down the sled for cool down? Looks like the fan comes on at about 200 deg (would be nice if it was a little sooner) but my guess is around 230 deg since it creeps up a little at shutdown. Opinions??

I just pulled the stock t-stat.
71C is the stamp on it.
Conversion = 160F
So the stock t-stat starts to open at approx 160 and should be fully open at 170.
I'm trying to get my nytro to run no higher than 160.
Vents and cooler t-stat are being installed.
Note, during warm up red light goes out before 120F.

Mark, how are you going to know what it is running at without a guage?

Cooler T-stat and temp gauge were installed at the same time.
Waiting on some more hood vents to arrive.
Testing will begin soon.
Cheers

What temp does the fan come on.
I think my gauge is reading too low.

Not sure, haven't done that test yet and after vents and mods I'm doing.
I hope the fan never comes on.

I was told that the ecm will not shut your sled down if it overheats.

I don't know how complicated the ECM is on these but if you install lower thermostats in cars the Ecm compensates the fuel mixture, leans it out, to get the motor to optimum operating temperature.

ECM is not like some newer cars.
We have control of the fuel map.
