So, while getting ready for winter season, I figured out, how a reverse gear might be switched on directly, by a manual thumbler switch.

So, I 've made a little video on that issue:

Some Russian language, but might be clear how to do it

Very nice! That would work to eliminate the "push the button and nothing happens" problem. I have trouble trying to decipher the diagram though. If you could add component names and wire colours. Translations would also be nice. (I'd use Google Translate but can't copy/paste from a video).

Allright, I ll add some comments under the video)

Added some comments under the video. Ask if any questions. I think all is clear, guys from Rissia tried the sceme and are pleased)

Not sure I understand what the objective here is....?

It's because Venture Lite/MP and Phazer reverse systems are plagued with issues, most notable (and frustrating) is the ECU refusing to engage reverse (push the button and nothing happens). Only remedy is to restart the engine. By cutting out the ECU from the equation, you are bypassing it and making it work. This however doesn't deal with the mechanical issues where you have to either rock the sled or lift the rear to make the gear case engage.

I had thought of doing something similar to this with a switch that powers the actuator motor directly but this is more elegant using the relays.

Ok, thanks, I hadn't run into the electric part of it refusing to work.

Added some details on harness:

That safety switch is a nice touch. Good work. ;)!

When I go to YouTube all I get is the music and a black screen. Help ... anyone.

Could be your browser. I have no issues with FireFox.

I'm Firefox too. It seems to happen on about 5-10 percent of YouTube videos. I've googled the issue and never managed to resolve it ... sort of like the reverse on my MP, works most of the time but not always, don't know why, just live with it. The thing is I'm keeping the MP for sweetie and SHE WILL NOT BE AMUSED so I thought I might put this fix on my to-do list.

As an aside, Mooseman you must be thrilled with your new ride. I can't believe the difference. I still like the MP and will keep it and use it about half the time but I'll be going places and doing things that were pretty sketchy on the MP.

Tried Internet Explorer and it worked. What I think I saw was that there are three wires that can be pulled out of their current plugs, connected as one and when juice is applied we get reverse. This would replace, not over ride our current set up. The switch needs to be safe from accidental operation or the results would be dire. I have the manual so I may be able to figure it which wires Alex pulls. Looks like one from the ECU, it would have to be one from the shifter, and I haven't got a handle on the third.
