I thought about continuing the original thread but thought this would focus more on my suspiscion of clutches coming out of alignment under load. I did speak to Jeremy hannen today and he maintains the motor moves A LOT under load. I didn't get into specifics but the first thing I thought of was bracing and/or stiffer mounts. Nothing new right? Well now is the time for one of us to develop and engineer something to keep these clutches in alignment. Cause we all know yamacat won't.

IMHO your wasting your time.
Let some air in with a vent, get your offset right, make sure your clutches are in good shape and throw a ultimax belt on it. I personally don't know of one Cat guy having an issue with belts, I'm sure there is some but I've not seen one. I have however seen a lot of SW having issues.

I disagree but to each their own. Many ultimax belts or any belt have gone bye byes with every kind of clutch combo.

Lots of Cats having issues that have been geared up and running big tunes. Spoke with my bud this last week. Last time up north he and his Dad both blew belts within one mile of each other. One at 340 miles the other at 341 miles, both on Cats big tunes and higher gearing.

Too bad the jackshaft are different from Cat to Yamaha it would be nice to verify on a larger scale. I only know of one guy that swapped his Yamaha set up for cat and his belt problems went away. Good luck but I highly doubt stiffening things up will cure your problem.

I haven' witnessed that. As I said I'm sure there is . Guys around me all run 270 plus on the trails and some cats well over 3000 miles on original belt.

I've seen both Cat clutches come apart in the worst way imaginable. Lucky the guy wasn't hurt. Not just one either.

Hopefully you come up with some thing beneficial to extend belt life . Good luck.
We tried floating the SW secondary and it did help some.

Has anyone who had a belt blower used hurricanes tool? Did it help to solve the belt issues?

I honestly can't see offset being a serious cause to belts blowing as long as you're within spec range.
Has anyone ever given the proper answer as to why the secondary doesn't close back up when sled is on the stand? I've heard theories but nothing really concrete. It's another thing that just bothers the hell outa me. Maybe I have OCD too? Lol.

Can we get a group of investors together and hire some engineers to properly develop and design these sleds? We can make up a "to do list" of issues and put a priority number on them. We can have a special website "savetheWinder .com" where sled heads can go and donate to the cause.

Can you imagine riding a tuned winder like it was intended to be without the worry of a left side explosion? Coming home on the same belt without even an adjustment?

We have lots of cats up north with big tunes including myself, i think the belt blowing issue is more a yamaha thing than a cat thing. i have over 4000 miles on my 270 tuned cat and last weekend i pushed it on the lake for 30 miles with many times over 110 mph and the belt looked great. if you visit hardcore sledder you do not hear of many complaints on cats blowing belts.

And they basically use a harder belt and a version of the Team secondary. Anyone know the difference between a team boss and a team tss-04?
