F-ing ski doo was trading wins with the A/C that beat me all winter!!
Hmmm, That sounds familiarI wonder who put that one together.
And I hear that was on 14 psi.![]()
Ted, Kyles ski doo was trading wins with my old mans apex day in and day out, both at 14lbs, Russ Horns running 22-24lbs traded wins with the A/C. I cant wait for kyle to turn the boost up!! His sled is gorgous to boot. and its going to fly, he will need it to keep up with the big green thing I got!!! LOL
Already in the works.
Ted.

Ron was running well in those races. I have raced against him a few times in the past with my 1st turbo & he was allways in the hunt. I did not race the newdale race as i would have got hurt bad on that track or hurt others plus dale Rodgers said he probably would not have let me run on that track.
I didn,t race any sanctioned events this winter as i cooked the bearing in my turbo a day before 3 big races & it took me 2s weeks to get back up & running.

My name is Russ Horn. I just want to make all the information about my sled correct. I have a stage 1 powderlite kit on one of my ski-doos that I was racing the day you are talking about. I was runing 16-17 lbs of boost that day. I run a polar clutch but the polar started to bind up the day before so I put my micro-belmont on with the stock rear. The real deal is not the sled . Its the sus, track, gearing, clutch weights, HELIX, spring, timing, just to name the main things then go test for a few weeks. The bottom line is you can win on any of the 4 brands think about it the quickest sled was a Polaris that day. He had 300 hp not 400. And one last note if you guys with the real fast sleds and Iam not one of you have not been beat yet then you havent stay on the ice long enough.

Welcome aboard Russ, Glad you chimed in to clear things up.
And your completely correct, making HP is Easy, Getting it to the ground is a Science, those who can do a lot with a little usually win.
Congrats on a Fast Ride.

Hello Russ, Glad to have the info on your sled cleared up, I was mistaken on the details, Funny how info gets changed second hand. My father and I wanted to come talk to you, but you were busy, my old man used to race the same circuit back in the day with you.
Your sled is a runner for sure, and thank you again for that great track!!! I had a blast there that day!! We will be over at snowridge more next season!!!

AJ, I was glad you and your friends came over to race. Yes there were some fast sleds there. I have two friends with yamahas 1 turbo and 1 super charger I test with every week and they are very competitive for only running 15 lbs boost. If you remember as fast as the a\c and I were we cant beat Deeder, not unless we change sled only for drag racing and want to work on it alot. I say this only because I have done it many times in the last 40 years. Tell your friend Kyle his sled worked fine for the boost he was running and tell him I will tell him anything he wants to know, although jannety I am sure has more knowledge and can help with any issues he has.Make sure you and your father come back next year.

Well boys, if you are trying to beat Deeder with a "trail sled", good luck. Like you said...horn46 said:If you remember as fast as the a\c and I were we cant beat Deeder, not unless we change sled only for drag racing and want to work on it alot.
I don't even want to run my Apex against him in the hill drags...
Russ, I look forward to meeting you.
Its funny "Deeder" didn't line up against your ski doo or the A/C. I feel it would have been a good race, His wins are the first 60' and his sled is amazingly quick!! I watched a turbo yamaha top end his sled in a roll on race. His polaris is a finely tuned machine for sure!!! And he proves that HP is not king when you line em up!!
I have raced with your friends on first lake a bunch of times, that red turbo is set up nice and runs real good.
We will be out there for sure next year. And Kyle is in good hands and he is a good tuner himself to boot. I am sure we will all have a few beers next year and talk shop!! LOL

I did race Dedder and he beat me. I cant beat him he is to quick out of the hole. I would have to change to much and then cant trail ride my sled. I do know because in 2002 I had a sled like that, pro 5 chassis and HTG 1200 with 283 dyno hp. and my turbo wont e.t. with him.
Trail sled to Race sled... We have had more fun with these turbo "Trail Sleds". Just doesn't seem to be the races on ice like they used to be, more ans more action on the snow side of the lakes lately.
Mauri, you run that crazy ski doo of Justins yet?

AJ,
No, unfortunately the snow went away right after the DTR session. It really needed to have made one of those last trips up to Old Forge "to get slaughtered" by you guys... Ah, those darn priority lists!
But his grass test track is looking pretty tempting!
