Down size fuel line to pump?

I have a 1986 pz480 that has a fuel pump diaphragm leak through pulse port. Can't find a pump or kit. Universal pump has all ports 1/4 in. But I have larger inlet. Can I go to a smaller inlet with no effect to metering?
