Had my drive axle snap at the end of the season and now its time to replace. Just wondering what you have upgraded too?

Anyone know if the stock axles were flawed, or just not strong enough?

Was thinking about anti ratchet drivers, but worried the stock drive axle is too weak.

Any thoughts?

I haven't heard about any flaws with stock axles. I'm running 290hp turbo through my 06 apex gt and haven't had a problem in 2years. If you have had chaincase apart or jack shaft bearings replaced, you may want to check shaft , drivers and track alignment.

I have been running anti ratchet drivers on my 07 GT 6000 miles with a S/C then a Turbo and still going the secret is to change the drive bearing every 3000 mile and keeping it grease. The bearing is only 35.00 and it only taks 30to 45 min to install.

Some guys have had Micro Belmont make them new drive shafts. Though I haven't broken one myself, I've read here of a bunch that have over the last few years!

I broke an axle on my 04 rxwarrior, but i was running the track kinda tight to stop the ratcheting. I replaced it with a stock axle and put anti ratchet drivers on, ran the track a little loose, never had a problem again. My 07 Attak has the same same set up with the anti ratchets over 6000 miles with no problems. I think the track tension might have had something to do with it. :dunno:

Seems like around 10,000 miles they start to wear out. Some go 20k, others only 8K but if you maintain the bearings, track tension its a fairly durable shaft, but it is a wearable part.

Ulmer racing sells a HD shaft that is larger.

08+ sled have a larger shaft and a new chain case cover with a extra bearing in it to help with the loads it sees.

Mine broke with just under 8000 miles. I have always kept my track loose, and replace the drive axel bearing (PTO side) every season.

Thanks for the input........

Mine busted at around 11,000 miles. Only time the sled has been towed! I always regrease the bearings. I replaced with a Yamaha shaft. I figure it will go another 10,000 miles and by then it won't be my primary sled.....
