Correct me if I'm wrong, but on a 5" longer track, I only need to take out 2.5" of extra slack.

2009 Phazer MTX
Correct, only need 1/2 the length difference of the track sizes. Going from a 144 to 151" on my Phazer was a 3.5" setback.
